Vice-President of ANGKASA Dr. Mohd. Azlan Yahya, who is also the Chairperson of the ICA-AP Committee on University/Campus Co-operatives, in his welcome address said that young people need a mixed set of skills and opportunities in order to play their role effectively in the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Having said that, youth nowadays have lack of skills that are required by the job openings that they have applied and thus resulting to them not getting the job in the first place. This global phenomenon can also be known as skills mismatch. According to an economic review released by the Malaysian Industrial Development Finance (MIDF) on May 9th, 2017, the main cause of youth’s high unemployment rate in the global market was due to skills mismatch. The education system of any government must provide students with the skills that will help them to prepare for the working world. On the second and third day, the delegates were able to see for themselves the day-to-day operation of three school co-operatives in Penang; SMK (P) St. George, MRSM Kepala Batas and SMKA (P) Al-Mashoor.
