Following the footsteps of Malaysia, Chungbuk High School from the Chungbuk Province in South Korea is the first school in the province to establish its own school co-operative. The teachers of the school recently visited ANGKASA’s headquarters to learn more about the development of the country’s school co-operatives.

Malaysia is known for being one of the few countries in the world to empower its youth between the age of 13 and 17 through co-operative at school level. The visit was also joined by the teachers of Chungbuk Energy High School, which also plans to set up its own school co-operative in the near future, and also an education officer from the province’s Educational Information Center. The delegates were given a thorough presentation on the business operation of school co-operatives in Malaysia by the Deputy President of ANGKASA Dato’ Haji Kamarudin Ismail, who is also the Board Member of the International Co-operative Alliance Global. Mr. Ismail has been a champion of school co-operatives for the past 30 years and has presented papers on the subject matter to countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
