AGM Minutes 2025 Thanks to Vice President Paul Davis for putting these minutes together.
2024 Minutes proposed by Steve Ede, seconded by Geoff Holder No matters arising from last years minutes President’s Report
Dinghy Show still viewed as worth being there. 2026 will be 70th Anniversary of the class plus Winders 50th Anniversary, so we will be there in force. 2 nd boat this time round will be a wooden boat. Events - 2026 Royal Torbay confirmed for the Nationals, 2027 venue TBC, 2028 Llandudno, 2029 Mounts Bay. Nations Cup, 5 th - 7 th June @ Quiberon, consensus to make it a 4 day event to make the travel worth while, plus the Nationals was a short event in 2026. Class training is still very positive, and still funded by the class / Noble Area's going well, Northern and Thames Valley need some work / additional support. Demo Boats, still very very valuable for the class, big help required from committee in moving them around. Members / users, it was suggested they need to step in and help especially if they are using them. Currently very strong support of the class from many companies, old and new and many from outside the marine industry which says a lot about the class and the value companies see it adds. Great media coverage from Will to continue Big thanks to the committee with several members stepping done, GCS from Secretary, Maria, Ross and Godfrey from the Area Roles. Requested a volunteer to help manage the events calendar, no-one at the meeting came forward. Limited calendar for 2026 to reduce event clashes as this was a driving factor for lower entry numbers. Patrick Burns stood up to suggest Nationals and Nations Cup being a combined event to try and increase attendance with Brightlingsea being a good example at 100+. Off the back of this a discussion took place as to whether the class should revert to going back to long Championship then short Championship as its been a little out of sync lately. Will Loy suggested keeping the events separate to try and go to some nicer venues like other classes. Does the class need to revisit combined events? This brought up combined events, with opens being part of a bigger event, this was very divided and the feeling was it draws the attention away from the class events. Patrick Burns wants the focus to remain on the main events. Committee to review and happy to have member feedback. Steve Ede brought up the choice of venues. Should we review the last 20 years worth of numbers, Nationals average is up, but the inlands down. Is there a trend here? Venue linked?
