Treasurers Report -Andrew Liddington was not in attendance so Guy delivered the report on his behalf. Membership Report, Paul Davis ran through this on behalf of John Steel. Positive on a whole, yes we have dropped members but there are new members coming to the fleet which is a big positive. Geoff Holden mentioned what can we do to help the clubs with 1 or 2 Solos, what can be done to support them and grow. Mark Harper on the online chat, suggested bringing back the membership transom stickers to promote the class and see who’ are members at clubs and who's not etc. Class decals to be revisited by the committee as this is a lot of time and money to sort. Can this be done via the area reps in a cost effective way? The cost of postage is prohibitive. CB Covers sponsored them last year, and suggested they get sent to Area Reps, and use Whatsapp to promote / point out non members. Maria mentioned Area Reps to be given the info to know who is a member in their area. Vernon Perkins offered to do a flyer with the members benefits which could be published and used Mike Barnes asked if we could find out how many people actually use the Noble class discount, Paul Davis to investigate later in the year. Guy ran through the Measurers Report on behalf of John Woodward. Currently the spars are not in the measurement form, but the plan is to get this addressed and have in-house certification by the spar manufacturers which the RYA are to police like the sails etc. Andy Davis agreed this was the way forwards and treat it like they do sails. Steve Denison mentioned in-house certification on the hulls and possible implementation of spot checks every so many boats as this would reduce time and costs. Election of officers -
GCS - Standing down, no replacement Maria- Standing down, no replacement Ross - Standing down, Charlie Bracknall stepping up Godfrey - Standing down, Mark Maskall from Brightlingsea stepping up.
No objections to the above! Item 10 - Rules Proposals -
Andy Davis - Side Tank profile redesign, fresh look, comfortable to hike from as inboard gunwale not digging into back of the calfs. Slight lack of detail to proposal, to be reviewed at a later date, possible PD and Steve Denison could mock it up to help illustrate it. - PD since looked at it and doesn’t think its within the rules after discussing with RYA. Slight confusion over who could vote on this, Steve Ede mentioned its those at the AGM. Side Tank, volume reduction - GM reviewed this with Phil Morrison, it would require the removal of most of the side tank to get the desired outcome of the hull sitting lower in the water during a capsize making righting the boat easier. Chris Bunn voiced his concerns and would be against any change as it would stop new boat sales if there were potential updates, it would need to be handled with caution. Those that have just got new boats could have outdated boats if we are to bring something in. Was noted OK's and Fireballs have have updates and sales increased.
