and engagement with scheduling tours and class visits, managing the calendar and other records, and providing program support for a range of community and campus audiences. An Athenian and fixture of the local music scene since 1997, James Huggins is a multi-instrumentalist who has recorded dozens of albums with various bands and toured the world as a performer. Formerly the assistant technical director at the historic Morton Theatre, Huggins has been an on-call guest audiovisual operator with the museum since 2021. In October, he officially joined the staff as our new event technology specialist, bringing his experience in audio, performance, lighting and staging to the museum. Josh Walker , director of information technology, welcomed his second child, Theodore, in May. Noelle Shuck , our graphic designer, married Ryan Lewis at the 40 Watt Club in December. upCOMIng gAllERy CHAngEs Over the past few years, the museum has steadily worked its way through its permanent collection wing, bringing fresh perspectives and different artworks out on view. With the reinstallation of the Byrnece Purcell Knox Swanson Gallery and Barbara and Sanford Orkin Gallery now complete, our attention turns to the Virginia and Alfred Kennedy Gallery. The Orkin Gallery previously displayed contemporary art, but this space is now used, alongside Swanson, to exhibit our growing collection of late modern and postwar art. Instead, contemporary artworks will now be showcased in the Kennedy Gallery when it is not occupied by temporary exhibitions. Contemporary works from our collection are expected to go on view this spring.

Clarke County. During the episode, Lachowski shares memories of being a member of the band Pylon and his experiences working at the museum. Lachowski was also interviewed for “35000 Watts: The Story of College Radio,” a new feature-length documentary that highlights how, at the peak of their popularity, college radio stations across the country — such as UGA’s non-commercial, student-run station WUOG 90.5 FM — strengthened local communities, helped students find their voice and promoted emerging musicians to new audiences nationwide. The documentary is now available for streaming. See 35000watts.com. sTAFF nOTEs Ari Engle joined the staff in May as visitor services assistant. Engle graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor of fine arts degree, specializing in fiber arts, printmaking and video art. Supporting the day-to-day operations of the visitor services department, she works closely with gallery guides and the Museum Shop. Hanxu Chen , a doctoral candidate in art education at UGA’s Lamar Dodd School of Art, joined the museum’s department of learning and engagement (recently renamed from the education department) in August as the community outreach coordinator. Chen received a bachelor of fine arts degree (graphic design) from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and a master of education degree (art education) from Harvard Graduate School of Education. In her new role, she is working to expand the museum’s community, rural and state-wide outreach initiatives. A familiar face around the museum, Ellen Patton , previously a gallery guide, was hired as the museum programs assistant in September. Patton is a recent graduate of Georgia College and State University, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree with a concentration in museum studies and minors in art history, ceramics and business administration.
