Student Showcase: Student Research and Responses to the Georgia Museum of Art’s Collection Monday, April 27, 2 – 4 p.m Thousands of students come to the Georgia Museum of Art every semester as part of their classes. The Student Showcase highlights the papers and creative responses resulting from these classes. Come see how UGA classes use our collection through these short, interdisciplinary presentations. Study Break Tuesday, April 28, noon – 4:30 p.m. Need a break from studying for final exams? Students are invited to stop by the museum on Reading Day to participate in one of our art and wellness programs or take a pause and enjoy some art in the galleries at their own pace. Snacks, coffee and refreshments provided. This program is presented in partnership with UGA’s Office of Student Care and Outreach and with support from Anne & Bill Newton and Bill Parker. wORksHOps + ClAssEs Figure Drawing Saturday, January 10, March 14, 2 – 4 p.m. Sketch from a live model in this free life- drawing workshop, open to all levels. Drawing supplies will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own materials too. Seats are limited and registration is required; email gmoa- tours@uga.edu to reserve your spot. Yoga in the Galleries Thursday, January 15, February 19, March 19, April 16, May 21, June 18, July 16, 6 p.m. Join us for a free yoga class surrounded by works of art in the galleries. Led by instructors from Yoga and Pilates for the People, this program is free and open to both beginner and experienced yogis. Sanitized mats are provided. Space is limited and spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis; tickets are available at the lobby desk starting at 5:15 p.m. Creative Aging Art Workshop Tuesday, January 20, March 10, May 5, 10 a.m. – noon Lifelong learning through the arts offers opportunities to practice creativity and create community. Join teaching artist Toni Carlucci in the galleries to look at and talk about art in the permanent collection, then come to the studio classroom to make art and new friends. All levels are welcome. Creative Aging programs are geared to ages 55+. Seats are limited; email gmoa-tours@uga.edu to register.

Morning Mindfulness Friday, February 6, April 24, 9:30 – 10 a.m. Come rest and recharge in the galleries surrounded by inspiring art. Experienced mindfulness instructors lead guided meditations, gentle movements and slow- looking techniques. This program is free, stools are provided and no experience or special attire is needed. Creative Aging Seated Yoga Thursday, February 19, April 9, May 28, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Join us in the galleries for gentle seated yoga led by Raquel Durden. This class will include restorative stretching, deep breathing and mindfulness. All levels and abilities are welcome. Creative Aging programs are geared to ages 55+. Seats are limited; email gmoa-tours@uga. edu to register. Studio Workshop: Color Space: Engaging with Abstraction Thursday, April 9, 16, 23, 6 – 8 p.m. In this series of classes led by teaching artist Kristen McCarthy, participants will draw inspiration from Rachel B. Hayes’ installation “Looking through a Sewn Sky,” learn the basics of color theory and experiment with abstraction by creating their own layered watercolor paintings. Through guided exercises, we’ll explore mixing hues, overlapping translucent washes, and incorporating line to evoke space and depth. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have a unique abstract watercolor piece that captures a memory of a sacred space. All materials are provided, and no prior watercolor experience is necessary — just bring your curiosity and a willingness to explore the poetic possibilities of color. $20 for Friends; $30 for not-yet-Friends. Space is limited and registration is required; secure your spot online. Sunday Slowdown Sunday, April 12, 1 – 6 p.m. Take a pause with us at the museum during this day-long program dedicated to mindfulness, movement and making. From meditation and tai chi to mindful art-making and restorative yoga, the museum offers a chance to recharge and reconnect through art and wellness practices. Drop in for one session or stay for the full afternoon. • Guided meditation in the permanent collection galleries, 1 – 2 p.m. • Tai chi in the sculpture garden, 2 – 3 p.m. • Sound bath meditation in the exhibition “We, Too, Are Made of Wonders,” 3 – 4 p.m. • Mandala workshop in the Mary and Michael Erlanger Studio Classroom, 4 – 5 p.m. • Restorative yoga in the sculpture garden, 5 – 6 p.m.

Teen Studio Teens ages 13 – 18 are invited to this studio- based workshop. Explore the galleries and make your own work of art inspired by what you see. This program is free and includes a pizza dinner from DePalma’s Italian Cafe. Seats are limited; RSVP on our website or email gmoa-tours@uga.edu to register. • The Art in our Stars Thursday, February 12, 5:30 – 8 p.m. • Big Mood Thursday, May 14, 5:30 – 8 p.m. Homeschool Day: Home and Horizon Friday, February 27, 10 a.m. – noon Explore the Georgia Museum of Art with a customized, drop-in program designed for homeschool students and parents. Structure your own experience at your own pace while in community with other homeschoolers. Docents, educators and teaching artists will be in the galleries and studio spaces to engage with visitors and share activities inspired by the event’s theme. Individuals and groups welcome. For more information email gmoa-tours@uga.edu. Backpack Tours Check out a Backpack Tour of the permanent collection at the front desk. Available in both English and Spanish, they include gallery activities, art supplies and looking prompts that can be completed at your own pace. These self-guided tours are free and perfect for a family visit. Recommended for ages 5 – 14. sTuDEnT EvEnTs Student Night: Starstruck! Thursday, February 5, 5:30 – 7 p.m. Celebrate “We, Too, Are Made of Wonders” with a fun-filled night at the museum. Take inspiration from the poetry, stars and planets in the exhibition to make your own Valentine’s Day card. We will have space-themed games with prizes from the Museum Shop. Enjoy free food in the lobby, check out the galleries and try hands-on activities. This program is presented with support from Anne & Bill Newton and Bill Parker. Student Film Night Thursday, March 19, 5:30 – 8 p.m. Need some space? Come enjoy a space- themed movie night with free snacks and art making. We will watch Pixar’s “Wall-E” and paint mini flower pots. Snacks, viewing of the exhibition “We, Too, Are Made of Wonders” and artmaking will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the movie will screen at 6:30 p.m. This program is presented with support from Anne & Bill Newton and Bill Parker.
