Lau Angus - Annual Angus Bull & Female Sale [1/22/26]

Calving Ease Rating Calving Ease rating is an objective view of what to expect. Several factors go into the raiting: birth weight BW ratio, bull and cow history and accuracy. aaaa Excellent calving ease, use with confidence on any type of heifers. aaa Superior calving ease, should work with most heifers and most situations. aa Moderate calving ease, most people will use these bulls on cows, but they can be used on heifers if calving ease is of less concern. a We reccoment these bulls just for use on cows.

CED (Calving Ease Direct) predicts average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers. BW (Birth Weight) is a predictor of progeny birth weight attributed to its progeny. WW (Weaning Weight) & YW (Yearling Weight) are predictors of the animal’s ability to transmit weaning growth and yearling growth to its progeny. DOC (Docility) is expressed as a difference in yearling cattle temperament, with a higher value indicating more favorable docility. PAP is an indicator for animals with lower risk of developing high altitude disease (HAD), which in most cases results in congestive right heart failure.

HD50K Angus Genomic, or DNA, test results are used to enhance predictability of current selection tools, to achieve more accuracy on EPDs for younger animals.

(SC) Scrotal Expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires.

CEM (Calving Ease Maternal) predicts the probability of a given ani- mal’s daughters calving unassisted at two years of age. Milk is a predictor of an animal’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability.

$W (Weaned Calf Value) Weaned calf value ($W) provides the expected dollar-per-head difference in future progeny preweaning performance from birth to weaning. $F (Feedlot Value) Feedlot Value ($F), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning merit compared to progeny of other sires. $B (Beef Value) An index value expressed in dollars per head, the expected average difference in future progeny performance for post-weaning and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. $C (Combined Value) An index, expressed in dollars per head, which includes all traits that make up both Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M) and Beef Value ($B).

Marb EPD Expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. RE EPD Expressed in square inches, a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
