1950’s WHERE IT ALL BEGAN David Gillespie, a talented sculptor, eccentric artist, and founder of Gillespie, graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1959. He later established David Gillespie and Associates, starting with a small, creative team that included his wife, Anne.

1960’s MAKING A SCENE

1970’s FORWARD THINKING In response to the environmental concerns of GRP, including its dependence on fossil fuels and fire risks, Gillespie developed and patented Zerodec GRG, a ground breaking material for the interiors market. The projects span across the UK, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, showcasing their global reach and innovation.

1980’s ACQUISITION TIME

Collaborating with renowned artists such as Henry Moore, and Philip Jackson, Gillespie have produced exceptional sculpture, television and film props, along with a variety of architectural projects around the globe. Project production employs a diverse range of materials, including metal, plaster, and GRP.

The company grows and evolves focusing on the success of the innovative GRG material. Through strategic mergers and acquisitions, Gillespie become the leading international supplier of this specialist building material and the top provider of cladding for the continued expansion of shopping centres.

1990’s BORN TO SHOP In the 90s, Zerodec GRG continues to be the preferred choice for creating bespoke interior features, with ongoing advancements in moulding techniques and the development of standard elements like GRG column casings, bulkheads, and lighting features. Gillespie’s expanding reputation attracts prestigious capital projects from emerging markets such as Brunei, Singapore, and Japan.

2000’s ESSENTIAL INGREDIENT A period of rapid growth in the construction of airports, train and metro stations, and conference and cultural centres both locally and internationally, with Gillespie playing a pivotal role in enhancing the visitor experience.

2010’s POSITIONED FOR GROWTH With new production facilities in Europe and accelerated development of moulding and material technology, we integrate 3D modelling and CNC production into
