AMN Healthcare World Language Index Data revealing languages other than English used in patient/ provider healthcare encounters nationally and by state. Spanish is the most common language other than English used in patient/ provider healthcare encounters. Spanish is employed in 73% of non-English healthcare encounters. Chinese languages ( Mandarin and Cantonese ) are second and are used in 4.4% of non-English healthcare encounters. Vietnamese and Arabic are tied for third and are each used in 3.3% of non-English healthcare encounters.
