I currently work as an LPN at a facility that provides LTC as well as skilled nursing and rehabilitation. I worked as a CNA at this facility while going to Sumner, and they hired me on as a nurse once I graduated! I now work both sides of the facility, which lets me see and experience the many different aspects of nursing. I love pushing myself out of my comfort zone so I can learn new skills and gain greater knowledge as a nurse. I am so happy with my new career and very thankful for Sumner College for thoroughly preparing me for it! Looking forward to what the future holds! ~ Amanda, LPN
I originally began my healthcare career working as a CNA/Med Tech. I really enjoy helping the elderly. I wanted to expand my skills and knowledge, so I enrolled at Sumner College’s PN program. Sumner’s instructors are very knowledgeable, supportive, and available to the students. Their admissions, financial aid, and student and career services departments were all very helpful. The entire team has been amazing to me. I now work in acute care.
Before applying to Sumner, I was working as a CNA2 in the NICU. I chose Sumner College to get my LPN because I had applied to RN programs all over Oregon and was waitlisted multiple years in a row. Sumner was very welcoming and wanted to help me further my dreams! I am now working as an LPN Charge Nurse for AvaStaff, an internal agency with Avamere. I have always had a passion for the geriatric population, and now my dream of becoming a nurse has come true! Natalie, LPN (Front Cover)
