Trois athlètes locaux représentent l’Ontario

Trois athlètes de la région se joindront aux équipes féminines et masculines de volleyball de l’Ontario U18 (moins de 18 ans) en vue du Championnat national de volleyball à Winnipeg (Coupe défi de l’équipe nationale). Celui-ci aura lieu du 16 au 21 juillet prochains. Caroline Lemay, âgée de 18 ans, de Rockland, Claudia Besner, âgée de 17 ans, de Saint-Isidore et Nicolas Pirnat, âgé de 18 ans, originaire d’Embrun ont été sélectionnés. Pour sa part, Caroline Lemay, élève diplômée de l’École secondaire l’Escale de Rockland, est également membre du club de volleyball Fusion. Cet automne, elle s’alignera avec l’équipe de volleyball des Gee-Gees de l’Université d’Ottawa. Claudia Besner, élève de l’École secondaire Louis-Riel, joue pour les Mavericks d’Ottawa. Elle joue au volleyball depuis sa cinquième année. Elle fait partie du programme Sport- études à Louis-Riel. De son côté, Nicolas Pirnat est un récent diplômé de l’École secondaire catholique d’Embrun. Il a également évolué avec les Mavericks d’Ottawa. Il s’est récemment joint à l’équipe universitaire des Lions de l’Université de York, à Toronto. Les trois athlètes ont d’abord dû participer au camp de sélection qui se tenait à Oshawa,
en juin, pour être sélectionnés au camp principal. Celui-ci se tenait du 2 au 7 juillet dernier à North Bay. Le 15 juillet, ils ont quitté Winnipeg en vue du Championnat national. Ils auront l’occasion d’être scrutés par des entraîneurs de volleyball de calibre national. Nicolas Pirnat

Casselview offers world’s first Sprintor Golf

Theworld’s first Sprintor Golf roundwas played at CasselviewGolf Course onMonday July 7. Sprintor Golf combines running with a fast one-ball form of golf and is played in the last couple of hours before sunset. Sprintor Golf is opening up in a few select courses including Chateau Cartier, Gatineau and the Canadian Club. Casselview was chosen for the very first round. Club owner Claude Leclair and Sprintor founder Martin Clarke welcomed golfers Marysole Comeau, Karine Pelletier, Kina Leclair, Marie-Pier Millaire and Alex Leclair.

CASSELMAN | Casselview Golf Course near Casselman has begun the first official play in the world of a brand new form of golf called Sprintor Golf, which takes less than an hour for nine holes. Founder of Sprintor Golf, Martin Clarke, and Casselview owner Claude Leclair, were excited to welcome this fast form of golf, which combines sprinting from one hole to the next with a short form of golf in which a team of two to five players plays one ball with each player playing positions such as drivor (all names end with “or” in Sprintor), strikor, puttor, and portor (who supports the team).
