Welcome, Friends and Cattlemen. We are excited to invite you to our Annual Production Sale this year and to present this offering for your inspection! We truly enjoy getting to raise Angus cattle and marketing seedstock and are excited

every spring to present the breeding decisions from two-years-ago for you to evaluate. This set of cattle has performed tremendously. Our focus long has been on making the best Angus cow we possibly can. We don’t tolerate mothering challenges, teat and udder size problems, or poor temperament. Cows that make us upset for any reason get culled, plain and simple. We don’t want problems and darn sure don’t want to pass them along to our customers. Through very careful sire selection, and heavy use of certain bulls we have been able to really advance our maternal objectives. We don’t use a lot of different sires, and for good reason. Our goal is to build a cowherd, stacked with like genetics, full of consistency and predictability, identifying the bulls that will make our females better each generation. In short, it is truly our belief that if the cows work, everything else will fall into place. The female component of what we do has to be at the forefront of every decision. If the cows aren’t hard working, good uddered, good producing females, with excellent feet and fertility nothing else matters. There is no reason to accept problem cows and even less reason to keep them around. This set of calves was weaned in late September and started onto feed well. We had a hot, fly ridden summer as did much of you in the northern plains. These bulls and heifers grew exceptionally well this past winter. As always, our bulls will be backed down on energy, transitioned to almost an entirely forage diet and ready to go to grass and get cows bred. These bulls live in large pens, get lots of exercise and will be sound, hard, heavy muscled, and ready to get to work. The heifers have been managed the same as always. Every heifer on the ranch gets the same ration, and these females are cycling, had their pre-breeding shot in mid-March and will be ready to breed immediately. All registered lots in this sale have genomic enhanced EPDs and are parent verified through the AngusGS test. By doing this, we ensure not only the pedigree we are selling but also offer the most accurate EPD data available. Scrotal measurements will be available on our web site by mid-April. (www.spicklerranchsouth.com) As in the past, videos of each lot will be available two weeks before the sale. A link to the videos will be available on our web site as well as the DVAuction site. Online bidding will be available through DVAuction.com. You must register with them prior to the sale. The sale offering and their dams are available for viewing anytime ahead of the sale. We would also like to invite you to our ranch on Sunday afternoon and evening to view the cattle and enjoy a supper that will be served Sunday evening at 6 pm. We sincerely thank you for considering us as your genetic source. We truly enjoy raising Angus cattle and getting to provide seedstock for our customers. We know early May is a busy time, but we invite you to come out, evaluate our sale offering, have lunch and enjoy the sale! Nathan & Emily Spickler & family

AMERICAN ANGUS ASSOCIATION SELECTION TOOLS

Expected Progeny Difference (EPD), is the prediction of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the database. EPDs are expressed in units of measure for the trait, plus or minus. Interim EPDs may appear on young animals when their performance has yet to be incorporated into the American Angus Association National Cattle Evaluation (NCE) procedures. This EPD will be preceded by an “I”, and may or may not include the animal’s own performance record for a particular trait, depending on its availability, appropriate contemporary grouping, or data edits needed for NCE. Accuracy (ACC), is the reliability that can be placed on the EPD. Accuracy will range from 0 to 1 with an accuracy closer to 1.0 indicating higher reliability. Accuracy is impacted by the amount of information that is included in the analysis including individual genotype and performance records as well as number of progeny and ancestral records. PRODUCTION Calving Ease Direct (CED), expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first- calf heifers. Birth Weight (BW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Weaning Weight (WW) , expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Yearling Weight (YW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Residual Average Daily Gain (RADG), feed efficiency expressed in pounds per day, is a predictor of a sire’s genetic ability for post-weaning gain in future progeny compared to that of other sires, given a constant amount of feed consumed. Dry Matter Intake (DMI), expressed in pounds per day, is a predictor of difference in transmitting ability for feed intake during the post-weaning phase, compared to that of other sires. Yearling Height (YH), expressed in inches, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling height compared to that of other sires. Scrotal Circumference (SC), expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting scrotal size compared to that of other sires. MANAGEMENT Claw Set (Claw), expressed in units of claw-set score, a lower EPD is more favorable, indicating a sire will produce progeny with more symmetrical, even and appropriately spaced toes compared to another sire. Foot Angle (Angle), expressed in units of foot-angle score, a lower EPD is more favorable, indicating a sire will produce progeny with an angle closer to 45 degrees at the pastern and appropriate toe length and heel depth compared to another sire. Docility (DOC), expressed as a difference in yearling cattle temperament, with a higher value indicating more favorable docility in a sire’s offspring compared to another sire. Pulmonary Arterial Pressure EPD (PAP), expressed in millimeters of Mercury (mmHg), with a lower EPD being more favorable indicating a sire should produce progeny with a lower PAP score to decrease the risk of progeny contracting high altitude disease most commonly experienced at 5,500 ft or greater in elevation. Hair Shed EPD (HS) , expressed in units of hair shed score, with a lower EPD being more favorable. This indicates a sire should produce progeny who shed their winter coat earlier in the spring and has improved environmental adaptability in heat stressed areas and grazing endophyte-infected (hot) fescue. MATERNAL Heifer Pregnancy (HP), is a selection tool to increase the probability or chance of a sire’s daughters becoming pregnant as first–calf heifers during a normal breeding season. A higher EPD is the more favorable direction, and the EPD is reported in percentage units.

Calving Ease Maternal (CEM) , expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf daughters. It predicts the average ease with which a sire’s daughters will calve as first-calf heifers when compared to daughters of other sires. Maternal Milk (Milk), expressed in pounds of calf weaned, is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability in his daughters. In other words, it is the part of the calf’s weaning weight attributes to milk and mothering ability. Mature Weight (MW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of the difference in mature weight of daughters of a sire compared to the daughters of other sires. Mature Height (MH), expressed in inches, is a predictor of the difference in mature height of a sire’s daughters compared to daughters of other sires. CARCASS Carcass Weight (CW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of the differences in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Marbling (Marb), expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Ribeye Area (RE), expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Fat Thickness EPD (Fat) , expressed in inches, is a predictor of the differences in external fat thickness at the 12th rib (as measured between the 12th and 13th ribs) of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. $VALUE INDEXES $Value Indexes, expressed in dollars per head, are multi-trait selection indexes where a higher value suggests more profit. The $Value is an estimate of how future progeny of each sire are expected to perform, on average, compared to progeny of other sires if sires were randomly mated to cows and if calves were exposed to the same environment. Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M), expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences in progeny due to genetics from conception to weaning by decreasing mature cow size and improving docility, foot structure and fertility while maintaining weaning weights consistent with today’s production. Weaned Calf Value ($W), expressed in dollars per head, provides the expected difference in future progeny pre-weaning performance from birth to weaning. Energy Value ($EN), expressed in dollar savings per cow per year with a larger value being more favorable. It assesses differences in cow energy requirements, due to maternal milk and mature cow size. Feedlot Value ($F), expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for post-weaning feedlot merit (growth and feed efficiency) compared to progeny of other sires assuming producers retain ownership of cattle through the feedlot phase and sell on a carcass-weight basis. Grid Value ($G), expressed in dollars per carcass, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for carcass grid merit, including quality and yield grade attributes, compared to progeny of other sires. Beef Value ($B), expressed in dollars per carcass, represents the expected average differ- ences in the progeny post-weaning performance and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. This index assumes commercial producers wean all male and female proge- ny, retain ownership of these animals through the feedlot and sell on a carcass merit grid. Combined Value ($C), expressed in dollars per head, which includes all traits that make up both Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M) and Beef Value ($B) with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd. The remaining cull heifer and steer progeny are then assumed to be sent to the feedlot where the producers retain ownership of those cattle and sell them on a quality-based carcass merit grid.

Kraye Big Country was one of the elite bulls that sold in the spring of 2021. Admired by many breeders by the amount of muscle, power and performance he contained, he garnered a final bid of $106,000 as the all-time high selling bull to come out of the good Kraye Angus herd in NE. After careful consideration, we chose two years ago that we were ready to put Big Country into our program. Last Spring, when the current calf crop we are selling were baby calves, we couldn’t contain our excitement for this great sire, and knew he was going to be an incredible fit for our cowherd. After utilizing him heavily again and having a large number of calves being born here this Spring, we wanted to be fully in on this great sire. We were fortunate enough to purchase full pasture rights on Big Country from High Point Genetics, IA and will continue to put this major impact sire to use heavily at Spickler Ranch South. Big Country is an incredible breeding bull. Backed by a strong producing lineage, the cows that generate his maternal backbone have production and longevity that is simply something to marvel at. The first three cows on the bottom side of his pedigree are all still in production and they are 8, 10 and 13 years old. Not only do they have longevity, but they have compiled progeny weaning ratios of 6/106, 6/106 and 11/103 respectively. Beyond these three high production females, the next two cows in Big Country’s pedigree recorded progeny weaning ratios of 8/106 and 9/103. We can’t wait to get our first Big Country daughters in production next Spring. The job he has done as a sire on udder quality, teat size, and bred in longevity has him positioned to only continue to elevate our goals of constant maternal advancement. As a sire, Big Country has done everything we’ve asked of so far. A true performance bull, he added length, size, pounds and performance to every pedigree we used him on. He “powers up” cattle but does it in a way that still maintains rib shape, body depth, and doing ability. His sons are high value cattle, but his daughters just may be his best part. They are neat fronted and long necked, yet are open though their chest, expansive in their rib shape, and deep flanked. Our 2025 sale offering is dominated by Big Country. His sons and daughters we are offering are truly difference makers and some of the real good cattle we have had the opportunity to offer for sale. 26 sons sell May 5!

Spickler Ranch South Annual Production Sale s Monday, May 5, 2025 s 1 p.m.

Armstrong topped out 2022 bull sale offering selling to ST Genetics for $90,000. A bull that created quite a stir the spring he sold, he presents an appealing and balanced Epd profile, ranking in the breeds elite for several traits. We have used him back heavily into our program and he has far exceeded our hopes as a breeding bull. His sons are really attractive bulls, rich in breed character in terms of their head and neck, and ex- pressive in the muscle shape they display down their top and through their quarter. After calving our first Armstrong daughters this past spring, it appears they will be where his legacy is stamped. Over and over we see his dam’s teat size and udder attachment shine through on these young females. Living up to his pedigree’s expectations he truly combines a who’s who amongst known female making sires as he combines Foundation, Game Day and Right Time. Armstrong has a big place in our genetic decisions going forward and we are excited to continue to offer his progeny in volume. 18 sons sell May 5!

We purchased Heritage as the $36,000 second high selling bull of the 2022 Midland bull test. A bull that we really admired due to his body, mass, performance, and added size, what really sealed the deal on him for us was the strength of the females behind him. Stemming from two of Leachman’s most elite producing cows, his dam and grand dam record weaning ratios of 6/112 and 9/110 respectively. Heritage has been incorporated heavily into our breeding program and has excelled greatly as a sire. A modest birth sire, he adds performance, length and size to every pedigree we mated him to. His sons are some of the real performance standouts we are offering. We calved our first Heritage daughters this spring and they are going to be special. Deep bodied and stout, they display consistent teat size and udder attachment that is reminiscent of calving our first Coalitions. The quality this young bull has sired has his place firmly cemented in our breeding program and we will offer his progeny in volume in future sales as well. 13 sons sell May 5!

Coalition came to us from U2 ranch in Alberta as their high selling Angus bull in 2016. How time flies, it is hard to imagine that we are already offering our sixth group of his sons. Coalition has established himself as one of the really good sires we have ever used. He has an uncanny ability to make cattle good. From the ground up, the phenotype he stamps his progeny with is

nearly unparalleled amongst any sires we’ve used in recent times. His bulls look like bulls and his daughters look like females. He puts a big, wide, expressive hip and great structure into his progeny while consistently improving breed character as he really puts a nice, Aberdeen head on his sons and daughters. We attribute much of the potency he has as a sire to the incredibly good female he is out of. Erelite 109Z is one of the absolute best Angus cows we have ever seen, and Coalition puts her small teats, and quality udder unfailingly into his daughters. Coalition is deceased and his semen is limited and this will be one of the last offerings of his progeny we will have. Forever cemented into our herd will be the legacy of this great sire, living on through his many productive, and strong producing daughters. If you haven’t tried a Coalition from us yet, this might be the year to grab onto one. 8 sons sell May 5! CED +11 BW +1.1 WW +56 YW +110 Milk +27 SC +.88 Marb. +.40 RE +.47 $M +64 $B +133 $C +237

Retained from his calf crop, Wrangler is one of the really complete bulls visually we have ever raised. He exhibits tremendous muscle shape, power and structural correctness that was unparalleled amongst his peers. A Coalition son, he is double bred to the performance, muscle, and maternal sire, Chisum, who has his footprint all over our program. We

sold possession and an interest in Wrangler to M Diamond Angus, WY and recently a breeding interest to Botts Angus, MT as well. 2025 is our fourth offering of Wrangler sons. He has put his stamp on his progeny. His sons are muscle bulls, exhibiting real, raw muscle shape. They are largely calving ease bulls, yet still present strong performance and as much visual muscle as any sire group we are offering. Wrangler daughters are beauties as they have come into production. Angular and Angus headed in their make-up, they show tremendous rib shape and muscle expression, much like their male counterparts. Their maternal temperament is top-notch and they have very good udders. Wrangler is a calving ease sire who adds muscle, pounds, and sure looks to enhance maternal and will be a part of our program for years to come. 15 sons sell May 5!

SR South Reliable was retained from our 2022 calf crop to serve us as a resident pasture sire. A really complete calf, he, like Revolution is a mating of time-tested proven genetics as he is sired by MAR Innovation and out of our cherished Blossom 0278 donor dam. As a calf, Reliable was a real standout amongst his peers, offering added frame, length, size and performance. S Revolution was the high-selling bull from our 2023 Production Sale selected by Regency Acres, MT. His pedigree is founded on proven and tested genetics as both of his parents were born 14 years ago. Sired by the long time Genex roster member, Innovation, he is out of our highly proven donor dam, Elba 1004. We have long appreciated the Innovation cattle and the maternal function, longevity and consistency they contain, and we utilized him into our ET program trying to align him with our elite producing females to keep maternal advancement backed by readily proven no-guesswork genetics. Coleman Glacier 041 is the $270,000 high selling bull of the spring 2022 Coleman Angus bull sale. He is royally bred sire, stacked with generations of maternal consistency. We appreciated his phenotype and the power of the cows that back him. Introduced through our ET program, our hope with Glacier was to obtain several heifer calves of elite maternal status. In trying to get these heifers we also ended up with several sons and they will be some of the really good phenotype, highly maternal directed bulls that are in our sale offering. The amount of muscle shape, structural correctness and visual power he sired is exciting and the pleasant front end, beautiful rib shape and added volume his daughters contain have us even more excited about his influence in our program. 8 sons sell May 5! Lots 1,2 This pair of ET sons by Coleman Glacier out of our matriarch donor, Blossom 0278, will lead off our 2025 sale offering. We introduced Glacier through our ET program as we were so impressed with the balance of phenotypic excellence and maternal strength he possesses. His donor dam is a really high-quality female who sold for $175,000 for one-half interest out of Coleman 2023 Your Maternal Source Sale. Our experience with her sire, Game Day, was very high-quality udders in his productive daughters. All of this combined with the legacy Blossom 0278 has left in our herd and we felt this genetic combination was a stacking of maternal excellence that will no doubt produce some of the best females possible. These two ET sons couldn’t have us more pleased. Good footed, strong numerically they offer a wide array of quality to the beef industry.

Starting life at 69 pounds, he boasts strong performance Epds, a ribeye Epd of +1.10 and $M and $C at the top of this entire offering. His dam is an ET daughter of donor dam Blossom 0278 sired by Tahoe. She is a big middled, quiet, easy-going cow who calved in mid-May last year and mid-March this year. She got the opportunity to breed for July to raise this calf only because of a bull injury. The fertility she has shown in moving right back into our first cycle is impressive. From all directions this Armstrong son is a herd bull. He has the numeric and genetic advantage to propel him into the category of this sale’s elite. Suitable for heifers.

Lots 4-5 A pair of ET sons of Coleman Glacier and U2 Erelite 109Z. When we chose to make this embryo mating our hope was to really compound maternal phenotypic excellence as we combined the great Donna 439 with 109Z. We ended up with two bulls that not only are royally bred maternally, but they are also really good kind. Both super attractive in their build, they are expressive bulls readily displaying the muscle and power they contain within. Their donor dam is the most influential female we have ever flushed. 109Z, best known as Coalitions dam, is an absolute power female, and one of the best Angus cows we’ve ever had a chance to be around. No matter who we mate her to she passes on extra muscle, mass and performance. As we are starting to get a collection of her daughters in production, it is really exciting to see how her udder quality and performance genetics still shine through. Don’t miss the opportunity to own a piece of her with either of these two late summer born bulls. They and Lot 9 are the only chance to have a son of hers this year. These are high-quality bulls, useful in their kind and ready to make an impact wherever they are put to work.

Lot 9

We only have a few bulls on offer this year by U2 Erelite 109Z, our high impact donor best known as the dam of Coalition. She is about as powerful of an Angus female as we’ve encountered, and as we assimilate numerous daughters of her into our herd from multiple matings, we see her udder quality and producing power shine through over and over. Lot 9 will start off our highly competitive offering of yearling bulls and he is the definition of raw power. Scanning an actual ribeye of 19.1 inches at just over a year of age, the amount of real muscle he possesses is hard to contend with. Standing behind him he is about as wide as any bull calf we’ve seen. He has tremendous shape to his hip, is wide over his pins and ties abounding muscle shape into the lower third of his quarter. A high-performing bull, he gained 4.18 pounds from weaning to yearling to accomplish a 1408 pound yearling weight. On the move it is a joy to see how his stout, heavy bone work can travel his amount of muscle and power with so much ease. Numerically he offers performance geared Epds that further enhance his ability to be a sire of pounds and more pounds. We fully expect his daughters to be the “elite” producing kind with his pedigree combination of Big Country and the great 109Z. He is worth seeing. Total powerhouse. Big time herd bull. Selling 2/3 interest and full possession.

When we chose to flush Armstrong’s dam to Big Country we were hoping to compound maternal excellence, generational udder quality and bolster phenotypic efficiency. The bull calf that resulted from this ET mating is offered as Lot 10. He is one of the big time herd bull prospects we have offered. Starting life at 70 pounds, this +10 CED, strong performing calf blankets all facets of beef production at an elite level. He weighed heavy at weaning and yearling, while also scanning with a 118 marbling ratio and a 16 inch ribeye. Visually he is a strikingly well-designed calf. So balanced in his kind, he presents an elite structure with tremendous muscle and mass. Wide chested, expansive in his rib shape, he is square hipped and expressive through the lower third of his stifle. He stands down on enough substance of bone to indicate longevity and power yet is conservative enough in his bone circumference to still validate his calving ease merit. His dam is an elite producing female stacked with generations of long lasting, high producing females. Stemming from a 9/107 weaning ratio grand dam, and a 7/110 weaning ratio third dam, this elite bull’s maternal foundation is well cemented. We will use this calf back in our program and anxiously await the maternal and performance impact he will make. Suitable for heifers. Selling 2/3 interest and full possession.

Out and out performance powerhouse by Big Country. A standout and favorite of ours forever, Lot 11 is a big time herd bull prospect. Carefully blending worlds of muscle, he is about as big topped, wide hipped and expressive in his muscle pattern as any bull in the offering. Coming off his dam with a 121 weaning ratio, he weighed nearly 1400 pounds at a year and scanned just short of a 16 inch ribeye. Guided by elite performance Epds he has the look of one that will alter phenotype and put real muscle in his progeny. His dam is a special cow. Quiet as quiet gets, she is our highest indexing Coalition daughter and boasts a progeny record of 5/113 at weaning, 5/108 at yearling, 5/113 for marbling and 5/106 for ribeye. On the short list for our donor program, she is small teated, deep flanked and descends from the same cow family that produced Chisum 6175. This good calf is a legitimate herd bull prospect.
