INTERVIEW AMOS SIMBO
Y ou’re eager to make society – in particular the construction industry – a more diverse and inclusive place, but you don’t know where to start or how to focus your efforts. So what can you do? For Amos Simbo, Founder and CEO of BPIC Network, we can all start somewhere and play our part to promote diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) in ways that are accessible and sustainable. The BPIC Network is an inclusion hub for the built environment, helping businesses improve representation and inclusion at their organisations through collaboration and connectivity. Services include

guidance, social value and networking events. “The first thing is to look at practical ways of improving DEI,” Simbo explains. “It starts at the top, with business and industry leaders saying, ‘This is what we stand for. And we should lead on it.’ “It takes business leaders being prepared to navigate a new path, showing clarity in what they want to achieve and how they plan to do it. A lot of it comes down to being honest and desensitising the topic of diversity and inclusion, not running away from it.” Simbo wants business leaders and their employees to openly discuss. “There’s absolutely nothing sensitive about it. Not running away from the topic sends the right message across the business.”
