The BA (Hons) English Language and TESOL course at Swansea University is designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of the English language and how it can be used to teach English as a second or foreign language (ESL/ EFL). You will learn about the theory and practice of TESOL, as well as the different methods and approaches to teaching English. You could also study for CELTA, an internationally recognised teaching qualification for teaching English as a foreign language, a gateway to teaching abroad. During the course of your studies, you will learn about theory and practice, language teaching methodology, vocabulary, grammar and meaning, psycholinguistics, first and second language acquisition and discourse analysis. You will also receive training in research methods including reporting and analysis of data and have use of our language lab with our state-of-the-art eye tracker sensor technology.

English-Chinese Translation and Interpreting, BA (Hons) English-Chinese Translation and Interpreting, BA (Hons) with a Year in Industry
This 3-year undergraduate course, unique to Swansea, is designed to give you, as a native or near-native speaker of Chinese Mandarin and highly competent English speaker, the skills and knowledge you need to work as translators and interpreters between English and Chinese. You will learn about the theory and practice of translation and interpreting, using specialised business, legal or scientific/technical language, as well as software tools including computer-assisted translation and mobile apps. You will also have the opportunity to gain practical experience through translation and interpreting placements in businesses, organisations, and other settings. Graduates of this course will be equipped for a wide range of careers in the translation and interpreting industry, including business, law, government, and the media.
