It has been estimated that around five per cent of the world population suffers from a certain degree of hearing loss. In most cases, the problem is progressive. The person affected does not realize it until it is severe enough to cause communication difficulties in his/her daily life. If you have a hearing problem, you could have difficulty understanding simple conversations with your friends and family, or difficulties in groups or in background noise. In those situations, you will notice that you can hear but not understand. Your family and / or friends can often tell you that you do not listen to them when they speak or that you listen to the television at a high volume. A sure way to know if a real problem exists is to consult a specialist. That person will be able to establish the importance of the damage, its causes and the solutions that can help the problem.
