FREEDOM DAY- The 2nd Annual Free Day in set for Sunday, July 3, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. at the Town Park in Fyffe. There will be Hots Dogs, Ice Cream, Music, Fireworks and more. FREEDOM FESTIVAL - The Rainsville Freedom Festival will be held on June 25, 2022 starting at 1 p.m. at the Field of Dreams Sports Complex. One of the events will be a Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show. Registration is from 3:00-4:30 p.m. The cost for Pre-Registration is $20 and Day of Show the cost is $25. The Awards are at 7:00 p.m. and the Door Prizes will include a 42″ TV, BBQ Grill, Tools & $1,000 Cash. Kids activities will start at 2 p.m. and will include: Pony Rides, Face Painting, Dixie Swing, Rock Climbing Wall, Mechanical Bull, Super Slide, Xtreme III inflatable, Tub of Fun, Tiki Island, Meltdown, Dr. Magical Balloons, Laser Tag and archery. The Entertainment starts at 1:30 and people are encouraged to bring folding chairs or blankets to sit and enjoy the entertainment. The music schedule is as follows: 1:30 Chasing Payne; 2:30 New Ground; 3:30 Still Kickin; 5:00 Cross Roads; 6:30 The Underwood’s; and 7:30 Confederate Railroad. There will Fireworks at 9 p.m. (weather permitting).

REFRESH SUNDAY - The North Broad Street Church of Christ, located at 308 North Broad Street in Albertville, AL, will have Steve Cummings, a former minister, as guest speaker for Refresh Sunday, on June 26, 2022. The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. A fellowship meal will be served at 11:45 a.m. ROCK THE SOUTH - The "Biggest Party in the South” is back in Cullman on Aug. 5-6, 2022, with an incredible lineup of musicians. Morgan Wallen and ALABAMA will be the 2022 headliners with other well- known musicians, HARDY, Jamey Johnson, Koe Wetzel, Jimmie Allen, Colt Ford, Matt Stell and Dee Jay Silver. STYX CONCERT - The legendary rock band STYX, along with REO Speedwagon, are scheduled to perform at the Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 6:45 p.m.. STYX is known for a variety of 70's and 80's music, including hits such as "Come Sail Away" and "Renegade". BLACKBERRY SMOKE CONCERT - The Sand Mountain Amphitheater in Albertville is set to host the Spirit of the South Festival, which will feature music from Blackberry Smoke, Drake White, and the Read Southall Band. The concert will be held on June 24, 2022. HELEN KELLER FESTIVAL - The 2022 Helen Keller Festival is set for June 23-26 in Tuscumbia, AL. SUMMER SIX SCHOLARSHIP - Gadsden State Community College has announced the return of the Summer Six Scholarship for 2022 high school graduates who enroll full time for Summer Mini 3 term. The Summer Six Scholarship covers up to six credit hours of in-state tuition and fees. Classes are July 7 to Aug. 10. The scholarship is open for 2022 graduating high school students in Gadsden State’s service area only, including Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Etowah, St. Clair and Talladega counties. To qualify, 2022 high school graduates must complete a Gadsden State admissions application at www.gadsdenstate.edu/apply. Once the student is accepted and a student ID number is assigned, the student must complete the Summer Six Scholarship application if they did not previously submit the 2022 Graduating High School Scholarship Application. Following an eligibility review, students will be notified about the scholarship decision via their Gadsden State student email address. The deadline to apply is July 8. WATERMELON FESTIVAL - The 48th annual Watermelon Festival will be held on July 3-4 at Odd Fellows Festival Park in Grand Bay, Alabama. ACT PREP COURSES - Gadsden State Community College’s Continuing Education Program is offering ACT preparation courses covering four core subjects – English, reading, math and science. Classes will meet at the Cardinal Tutoring Center located in Allen Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus. A two-day session will meet from 5 to 7 p.m. July 5 (English and reading) and July 7 (math and science). A one-day session will meet from noon to 4 p.m. July 8 to cover all four core subjects. Registration cost is $60 for Tuesday or Thursday sessions and $99 for Friday sessions including four hours of instruction for all core subjects. CARDINAL COMMIT - Incoming freshmen at Gadsden State Community College are invited to attend Cardinal Commit, a summer orientation for new students, from 8 a.m. to noon July 19 -23 on one of three campuses. Sessions will be held July 19 at Gadsden State Cherokee in Centre, July 20 at the Ayers Campus in Anniston and July 21 and 23 on the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden. Cardinal Commit is designed to provide students with the information and tools they need to be successful in college from the beginning and assist parents with the information they need to provide support for their new college student. HUNTING AND FISHING EXPO - The 2022 Tennessee Valley Hunting and Fishing Expo will be held on July 8-10 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville. The event starts on Friday, July 8 from 3-9 p.m. The event continues all day on Saturday, July 9 from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. and on Sunday, July 10 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. The Expo is one-of- a-kind event for hunting, fishing and outdoor enthusiasts, and top outdoor retailers and organizations where families can pursue their shared passion for the great outdoors. This year's guest is Riley Green, who will be at the event on Sunday at noon. He was named 2020 ACM Awards New Male Artist of the Year, Billboard describes Riley’s music as “accessible, winning songs” while American Songwriter proclaims his “storytelling talents shine bright.”. There is also a chance to meet Twiggy, the water-skiing squirrel, who will be skiing all three days of the show. Hundreds of door prizes will be given out, including several giveaways. STARS AND STRIPES CELEBRATION - The Town of Crossville will hold its 7th annual Stars and Stripes Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 2, 2022 from 5-9 p.m. at Crossville Town Park Pavilion The event will feature live music from the Steel City Rival and Worth The Wait music groups. HYDROFEST - The 2022 Guntersville Lake Hydrofest will be held on June 25-26. The event will be celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Roy Duby’s World Speed Record of 200.419 MPH. It’s a record that still stands today for the piston powered boats. Additionally there will be several classes of boats competing including H1 Unlimiteds, Grand Prix Americas and Pro Lites 5 Litres. The Miss U.S. U-36 will also make an appearance. The fireworks over the Lake will start at 9 p.m.

Snead State’s Registered Apprenticeship Program is business driven, combining on-the-job learning with related technical instruction through the classes offered at the College. The program also includes a national occupational credential from the Alabama Office of Apprenticeship.
