Copy of July Women of Power Issue 2025

Just a few days ago, my husband and I volunteered with CAYS at Kearney High School to participate in a program that helps high school youth discover their purpose. Over 40 speakers flew in -- volunteered -- from around the country -- providing exciting topics about discovering one's purpose. I was able to listen to several of those speakers, as well as take photos and capture video testimonials. Everyone was glowing! I witnessed how the youth felt encouraged. Empowered. Inspired. In one of the rooms, my friend Sparky Bridges, founder of Blue Ribbons Worldwide, led an interactive workshop using The Blue Ribbon. Her program provided the same uplifting experience for youth that I experienced it on my 40th birthday. The students were encouraged to use the Blue Ribbon's words, "Who I Am Makes A Difference" and tell their chosen partners -- from their hearts -- how much the other person mattered. You never know the story that's playing out inside someone else's head. So when someone delivers a positive message, it's exhilarating. Many hearts were touched on that day. And that message continues resonating. Over 50 million people have been honored in 12 languages worldwide, with a vision to touch the lives of one BILLION people.

Sound impossible? Not when you get passionate about following your purpose. All it took was for one amazing woman, "Grandma Sparky" Bridges, my friend, mentor, and colleague, to focus on her dream, persevere through the ups and downs, and never give up. She continues to be an inspiration to me. "Who I Am Makes A Difference" is not just reserved for a Blue Ribbon ceremony. It's a mindset of honoring one another, and acknowledging ourselves too. So on this day -- I'm pausing to be grateful to each of you -- and cheering you on for your dreams.
