But here’s the thing about hitting rock bottom: there’s no distraction. Just clarity.
So, I leaned hard on family. I rebuilt from scratch. I could barely string a sentence together without butchering the grammar, but I kept learning, writing, and showing up anyway. Fast-forward: I’ve now got four degrees under my belt (including a psychology degree) and a reputation as one of the best brand copywriters around.
That’s not ego talking. That’s grit, trauma alchemy, and a refusal to let my story end in survival mode.
Now, I run Turner & Co., a copy and brand strategy studio built to help women like me, women with something to say and a whole lot of heart, turn their message into a movement. Through our flagship service, WordCraft, I help brands connect, convert, and actually say something worth hearing.
But here’s what really sets me apart: I don’t just write. I feel. Always have.
I’m that person who rewrites song lyrics just because the originals didn’t hit right. I dream in vivid, cinema-grade detail. A smell, a sound, even a flash of colour, and I’m transported back in time. One whiff of sunscreen and I’m fifteen, barefoot, blaring No Doubt and plotting how to rule the world.
That sense of nostalgia and sensory storytelling? It’s in everything I write.
Last year, I was killing it on paper. I was a successful Marketing Manager for a women’s health brand launching in both DTC and B2B spaces, the kind of role people fight for. But despite the success, I felt it in my bones: It wasn’t enough. I didn’t just want to manage someone else’s dream. I wanted to live mine.
I use emotion, psychology, and deep brand immersion to create copy that doesn’t just sound good, it feels like something. Something familiar. Something powerful. Something real. Because in a world of “authenticity” that often feels anything but, I’ve made it my mission to help women show up in their copy with confidence, creativity, and the kind of clarity that sticks.
So, I turned to my husband and said, “We’re leaving Perth. We’re moving to Spain.”
He blinked. I booked the flights.
