CREATE A COZY BEDROOM
Everyone would love to have a cozy bed- room that promises relaxation and a good sleep. A bedroom should be a soothing space where you can get some well-de- served rest and a peaceful night. The key to a good bedroom decor is a harmonious blend of materials, colours, patterns, and lighting. Natural wood furni- ture and !ooring with soft area rugs o$er a combination of smooth and !u$y textures, which is always easy on the eyes. You could even be daring and add touches of fur, lace, and wool. These materials are unusual, but they give cozy appeal to a room. Be particularly careful when choosing the furniture, !ooring, bedspread, and window coverings; make sure they add warmth to the decor. For example, a pad- ded headboard gives a comfortable look, and cushions and welcoming throws are inviting for a comfy lay-down. Another
great way to add warmth to a room is to use curtains or draperies that fall from cei- ling to !oor and cover the entire width of the wall. For the bed, create multiple layers with covers, quilt, bedspread, and cushions. Scattering a few rugs on the !oor is another great idea. Opt for relaxing colours, such as beige, pale blue, dusty pink, café au lait, and cela- don, unless you prefer strong, dark tones for more intense coziness. Add touches of yel- low, burnt orange, or warm red as an accent. Printed fabrics contribute to the creation of a cozy atmosphere as well. A good choice this season is a warm and harmonious mix of patterns that evoke Mother Nature. Last but not least, vary the sources of light; use a chandelier for overhead lighting, plus !oor lamps, table lamps, and carefully placed recessed lighting.
