2) Leak in a supply or return pipe (generally underground because leaks within a building are usually readily noticed). 3) Leak around the manway gasket seal Corrosion of the Storage Tank Corrosion is almost universally caused by not following a defined water treatment and maintenance program. Please refer to the WATER TREATMENT section of this manual. The water in a GARN® unit must be tested at least twice per year.
Excessive Wood Use
Excessive wood use is generally caused by the following:
1) Consistent over-firing to water temperatures above 205°F. 2) Wood fuel moisture content too high (15% to 20% moisture content is best and most efficient). Burning green or very wet wood will significantly decrease the efficiency of the GARN® unit.
