AV I ATI ON CYBERSECUR ITY

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University draws on cybersecurity principles, safety, certification and assurance experience to educate aviation professionals. We are one of five U.S. universities to earn National Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security certification with a special designation in secure software development.

Cybersecurity engineering program with required safety and certification core FIRST Aviation maintenance program with a cybersecurity track ONLY 1.8 MIL

Our Center for Cybersecurity and Assured Systems Engineering coordinates research on cybersecurity engineering across the university, contributing to product development in collaboration with industry. Our engineers develop cybersecurity solutions to support the evolution of NextGen, airport and flight operations; avionics; and unmanned aircraft systems and cube satellites. Faculty members contribute to standards, policy and best practices such as EUROCAE ED-203A / RTCA DO-356A and ICAO TFSG. In addition to providing short courses and certificate programs, we have also developed and administered aviation cybersecurity CTFs at venues such as A-ISAC. Our portfolio of aviation cybersecurity projects includes: /// Aircraft-based detection of GPS spoofing /// Trustworthiness models for aviation systems /// Blockchain-based cybersecurity solutions for aviation /// Threat modeling and mitigation for avionics /// Cyber resilience analysis of components and interdependencies /// Rapid certification of software updates and aircraft certification support /// Onboard expert systems to aid pilots in emergency decision-making /// Cybersecurity risk management for trajectory-based operations /// Aircraft connectivity protocols and their cyber resilience /// Counter-drone technology to bring down rogue drones safely
