The growing knowledge about targeted therapy has translated into new medications that can offer a greater life expectancy. “Encouragingly, lung cancer mortality rates have decreased more than any other cancer type over the last 10 years due to advances in research. “And research into the benefits of early detection has supported the commencement of free lung cancer screening in Australia. “I would encourage everyone to support further studies and trials where they can.”
