i-94 Stamp Admission to the US
Upon arrival to the USA, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) records your arrival electronically.
CBP officially admits you to the USA by placing an i-94 stamp in your passport.
Go to https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov to download and print a copy of your I-94.

When You Reach Your Destination You will need to register with the government, apply for a Social Security number, and open a bank account. Do these as soon as possible.
Get a US phone number It helps with registration, emergency contacts, and staying in touch with friends and family. Visit a local carrier store for quick setup.

Call CIEE to Resigter In SEVIS Registration is required for all J-1 visa holders. You have 10 days after the start date on your DS-2019 to complete registration. Call CIEE at 1-888-268-6245 to register after you arrive. When You Reach Your Destination You will need to register with the government, apply for a Social Security number, and open a bank account. Do these as soon as possible.

Get a Social Security Number (SSN) You need this number to get paid, open a bank account, and pay taxes. Apply for a SSN five (5) business days after completing your SEVIS registration. Visit the local Social Security office (find the one near you here). When You Reach Your Destination You will need to register with the government, apply for a Social Security number, and open a bank account. Do these as soon as possible.

Open a bank account A bank account makes living in the USA easier and is a good way to protect your money. Ask about student discounts, and look for banks that have no minimum balances or annual fees. Choose a bank with a branch or ATM near your residence or job. When You Reach Your Destination You will need to register with the government, apply for a Social Security number, and open a bank account. Do these as soon as possible.

Your passport and J-1 Visa Your DS-2019 form Proof of your Social Security application (or your Social Security number if you’ve received it)
Your Pay Stub: Tax Deductions Unexempt Taxes: Federal Income Tax State Income Tax City/local Income Tax Exempt Taxes Social Security & Medicare Tax (FICA) Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA)
If you do not go, you will be breaking your promise and trust with your employer and Sponsor. If you do not go, US Immigration and Customs, and the Department of State, considers your actions as visa fraud and abuse by entering the US under false intentions. You Must Go To Your Selected Employer
Monthly Program Evaluations You are required to respond to our and Sponsors Monthly Evaluations.
Complete the simple questionnaire online.
Failure to respond to the Monthly Evaluations and to notifications may result in program termination.
Your sponsor wants to hear about your experiences!
You must have an approval from Sponsor: If you want to leave your job. If you want to work a new or second job. Changing Or Adding Jobs
Working at an unapproved job may result in program termination.
Be sure to get your Sponsor's approval before starting a new job!
Changing Your Housing
You are required to notify your Sponsor within 3 days of moving into the new housing. Report your new housing information by calling or emailing your Sponsor. Failure to notify your Sponsor of your current housing information may result in program termination.

Failing to maintain regular contact with your sponsor can result in termination, as it's crucial for program updates and compliance.
Breaching any sponsor or Department of State rules can lead to immediate program termination and potential legal consequences.
Engaging in unprofessional or illegal activities can trigger termination, impacting your program status and future opportunities.
Living and working in a foreign culture can be difficult.

BICYCLE SAFETY
Always wear a helmet. Always ride with the flow of traffic. Avoid riding at night. If you do, wear reflective clothing so drivers can see you. Select a safe route that does not have heavy traffic. Do not drink and drive! Drinking and driving puts you and others in danger! Always wear a seat belt. It’s the law! CAR SAFETY
