PENSION CREDIT The credit was introduced on 6th October 2003 and consists of two elements: • a Credit Guarantee (income guarantee) - of a minimum income below which no pensioner’s income need fall, and • a Savings Credit (reward) - for those who save for retirement Qualification To qualify the claimant must be resident in Great Britain, have attained the qualifying age, and to qualify: a) for Guarantee Credit: • have attained the minimum qualifying age for women to receive the basic state retirement pension (currently 60 years) • have no income or income which does not exceed the minimum guarantee; b) for Savings Credit: • have attained the age of 65, or • be a member of a married couple or unmarried couple where the other member has attained that age, and No printing, copying or reproduction permitted.
