Scam targets OPP community project The OPP is not asking the public for donations to help support its Community Bear Program. Several OPP detachments have received calls from residents asking about emails, letters and phone calls from people claiming to be fund- raising for the Community Bear Program. The OPP already has sponsors for the program who provide black-and-white teddy bears for officers to give to children they meet who may be suf- fering shock and grief because of a traumatic situation, like a car accident or a fire. Police ask residents to report anyone who contacts them about donating money to the Community Bear Program. – Gregg Chamberlain from the government, a sum that has just helped him complete a project of nearly $65,000. «The intention behind this program is to increase production in order to increase the number of jobs,” he said. “We added two beer fermentors, which allowed us to hire two full-time people. It’s a great success.” Introducing local ingredients, redu- cing the ecological impact of activities and implementing initiatives for sustainable development are also objectives assigned to the project. Éric Drouin, president of the Prescott-Russell Community Development Corporation, praised the government›s ges- ture to a local company. He felt it was a good example of the economic growth potential in Prescott-Russell. “The investment by FedDev (Ontario), through the Eastern Ontario Development Program, will have a direct impact on our job creation and the projects of the Tuque de Broue brewery,» he said. The financial contribution has just raised the number of people working in the com- pany to 12.
