There are many great fitness options in and around London, so I take a cautious view of the market and adopt a very thoughtful approach.
Real estate costs are high and consumers have a wide range of offerings from which to choose. It makes it more challenging for an inexperienced studio or gym operator to be successful, and means they need to learn quickly to deploy effective acquisition and retention strategies. Even the best owners and operators make mistakes and stumble – it’s natural – but with this awareness of the landscape, I expect we will carefully and selectively expand our brands. We will, however, only do so when we can execute our strategy correctly: finding the opportunities and partnering with master franchisees who have local experts in that market, who in turn have the network and resources to leverage.
