The Academy for the Performing Arts (APA) is a performing arts magnet program offering extensive college and career prep classes in a variety of performing arts and media disciplines within a traditional high school environment.
OUR VENUE All APA classes are taught on the Huntington Beach High School (HBHS) campus. APA utilizes a unique rotating conservatory schedule. APA students take academic classes in the morning and most performing arts classes within their chosen department during and after school. APA students must attend a high school that is part of the Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD), and all students accepted into APA are eligible to apply for a transfer to HBUHSD and/or HBHS. The five year designation is awarded for 2023-2028. AUDITION WORKSHOPS Join us for faculty-driven workshops! Audition workshops are available for each of our nine APA departments:
1. Download an application (PDF) from our website at www.hbapa.org/be .

1. You will be contacted with your audition information one week prior to your audition date. 2. Remember, you must be accepted before you can enroll in the program. 3. It is strongly suggested that applicants apply for two departments and indicate their 1st and 2nd choice. 4. Acceptance into the program is based on application, audition, HBUHSD criteria, and openings in the desired APA department.
