open project space where students can work on a variety of energy and propulsion-related projects, including rocket and air-breathing propulsion devices and energy systems ranging from solar to nuclear to conventional power generation. In the Propulsion Lab, students get hands-on, practical experience in identifying, formulating and solving complex engineering problems. The lab features three dedicated rocket test cells, including Test Cell 3, specifically designed to test rockets with cryogenic propellants. The complex also plays a central role in the Thermal Fluid Sciences and capstone design courses. The Propulsion Lab houses essential instructional and research equipment, such as conventional and optical measurement systems, cutting- edge industry-standard data acquisition systems, a high-capacity compressed air system and a fully operational gas turbine engine.

serves as a classroom and research facility for aerodynamics courses. This dual-purpose space cultivates a comprehensive learning environment where students engage in both theoretical study and practical hands- on learning. The lab features multiple wind tunnels, including two tunnels with advanced multi-component force balances, a blower wind tunnel, a closed circuit research-quality wind tunnel, a supersonic wind tunnel and a smoke- flow visualization tunnel. The laboratory enables precise aerodynamic measurements using innovative tools such as hot wire anemometers, pressure scanners and flow probes. Flow visualization is enhanced through water tunnels with dye injection systems and a water table that simulates shock wave behavior. This hands-on approach is integral to growing knowledge and skills in subjects like experimental aerodynamics, propeller design and more!
