BARKS FROM BELLA AM I A BAD DOG?

HAVE A LAUGH!

Mom and Dad tell me I’m a good dog all the time, but once, a long time ago, I was a bad dog. I still feel awful about it, but I promise I was just trying to be like my mom, Melissa! See, Mom has things that she puts on her paws that make her really happy. They look cool, too — she has great taste! She slides her paws into them and then goes all over the house making a click-clack sound like my nails make on the hardwood floor. When she’s not using the things, they sit in a place called her closet.

PECAN CREAM PIE

This creamy pecan pie tastes like a dream and is simple enough for even a novice baker.

INGREDIENTS

I was having a bummer day once (dinner was far away and the horses wouldn't play with me), and I thought, “What would Mom do to feel better?” Then, I remembered her paw things! I went into the closet to get them, but when I stuck my paws in they wouldn’t stay on. Dang! Maybe I could try them another way. I decided to chew on them like a bone, and it was so much fun. Mom was right, these things were great! I chewed right through the wooden part and started pulling off the little beads. I thought Mom would be proud of me for appreciating her good taste. But after a while, I got a bad feeling. The paw things didn’t look the same anymore. Maybe they wouldn’t fit Mom right! As soon as I realized that, I stopped chewing and hid under the bed. I was worried she would be mad at me … and I was right! When Mom got home and found what I’d done, she was SO upset. I felt like her fur was standing up straight and her ears were all the way back! She made me go outside and stay out there for hours. I guess she needed the paw things for work, and now I’d ruined everything. I was so, so sorry. While outside, I swore to myself that I’d never chew on anything else without Mom’s permission. I only chew on antler treats now, and no one has called me a bad dog in years. Here’s my best advice for all the other dogs out there: Good dogs don’t sneak! -Bella
