Carmen Makes the Guinness Book of World Records! Biker Pride
I’ve never met a biker I didn’t like.
In recognition of May as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, I want to remember the great effort invested by our area Support Bikers group in participating in the longest full-game poker run by motorcycle ever completed. As a co-sponsor of this undertaking, we just received our certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records honoring their 3,427-mile trek from Port Charlotte, Florida, to Sturgis, South Dakota, in the summer of 2021. This group of 113 motorcyclists came from all over the United States. Their journey started at a Harley-Davidson dealership in Florida. They passed through 11 states during their eight-day, seven-night journey, stopping multiple times along the way to play poker. After riding through rain, sleet, and high heat and passing a few funnel clouds, the bikers reached a 600-acre campground at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally just in time for a 10-day music festival. Support Bikers contributes the money they raise to a $30.5 million fund to support riders who have been injured.

Our family flew out to honor the Poker Run arrivals. While there, I had the opportunity at the airport to meet then-Governor Kristi Noem of South Dakota, who has since been named U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security. We enjoy opportunities like this one to support our biker clients. These riders all share a passion for riding and seeing the country on two wheels.
