The art exhibition Faces Narrate Tales By Maryam Al Wahibi
My second solo exhibition complements the first exhibition, where the faces were more ambiguous and far from clear. However, in this exhibition, I tried to make the faces in my works readable, understandable, and immersed in their features, so that the recipient receives them however he feels and how their features are reflected in his soul. For me, faces are like doors. There are doors that do not require knocking or waiting in front of their doorstep, but rather welcome you from the first visit. There are doors that feel rough and harsh from the first glance, so you refrain from trying to enter them. There are mysterious doors that you cannot solve the mystery of their existence, so you become curious about them. For me, faces are also portals to access their people. You may find in the faces that I draw a face that resembles you. If you do not find it, you may see a face that carries the same feelings as you or that resembles one of your acquaintances!! Some of these faces may be the creation of my memory or my imagination, but they are definitely part of a face that I saw one day and that remained inside me until the moment came to me to take it out and empty my mind of those faces that resided in it while I was unaware of everything.
