So why not combine the two? Well, that’s exactly what the debut of the Houston Hot Chocolate Road Race will do. Each runner will receive a mug full of fondue, bananas, pretzels, Rice Krispies Treats, cookie straws, and of course, hot chocolate. Can’t wait till the finish line? This year, the theme for one of the country’s most prominent Martin Luther King Jr. parades is “The Color of Unity.” With the focus on creating oneness in a community everyone can be a part of, this local event has taken on a national identity. HOPS N’ HOT SAUCE FESTIVAL When: Jan. 13, 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Where: Spindle Tap Brewery
The heat at this year’s festival is sure to blow the roof off this indoor event. The Hops n’ Hot Sauce Festival brings the best of Houston food to one place. With last year’s champion back to defend his title, this year’s contest is sure to be hot. Come and sample some of the best original hot sauces for an experience unlike any other. There’s plenty of fun outside of the competition too, including live graffiti painting and football playoffs. You can even watch the hot pepper eating contest, too. Come for the sauce, but stay for the fun.
