Established in 1998, Lászlópack has in the past few years installed an 8-color, gearless flexo print- ing machine with central cylinders. Over the recent years, Constantia Flexibles was able to expand its European flexo printing plat- form through the international acquisitions of Propak in Turkey, FFP Packaging Solutions in Great Britain, Drukpol in Poland, and now Lász- lópack in Hungary. “Our partnership with Constantia Flexibles marks a significant milestone in our growth journey,” said Szabolcs László, CEO of Lászlópack. “It’s a strategic collaboration rooted in our mutual dedication to offering the finest flexible packaging solutions. We can now serve more customers around the world and make a significant impact in developing more eco-friendly packaging options. Customers will benefit from an expanded portfolio of products and services fueled by the cooperation with Con- stantia Flexibles.” Guiding Principles Lászlópack Kft. operates a plant in Komarom, about 100km northwest of Budapest. Workshops To Harness Generative AI Now Available Generative AI has captured the attention of the public. What must businesses and organizations do to harness it for current needs and future planning? Three long-time AI, Machine Learning, and Orga- nizational-Change pioneers have a solution. They have joined forces to deliver “Unstoppable Forces,” customized workshops that will enable business- es and organizations address shifting organization models, new position descriptions as tech augmen- tation opportunities increase, implications of the ongoing silver tsunami knowledge drain, knowl- edge/expertise capture/retention, and business model evolution. Mondi Partners With Swiss Converter ATS-Tanner Mondi, a global supplier of sustainable packaging and paper, has collaborated with Swiss converter ATS-Tanner to create a paper band, which can hold individually labeled products or bundles reducing unnecessary plastic. ATS-Tanner uses Mondi’s kraft paper Advantage MF SpringPack and converts it into a band by add- ing a functional barrier on both sides of the paper. The paper is then sealed using ultrasound, erad- icating the need for any adhesive. This reportedly

Day One • An afternoon of imagination and exploration – blow people away with what is possible now, and what is right around the corner. • Lessons learned from real world implementa- tions. • End the afternoon with business model thoughts about augmentation vs. task replacement; what you want to keep inside you organization for compet- itive advantage; tech stack selection; sunsetting roles and reimagining position descriptions being rapidly enabled by platforms, digital twins, and generative AI. • Let people sleep on this rush of information – give a single assignment to complete overnight. Day Two • Next morning gather and hear what people think after sleeping on what was shared the day be- fore (briefly hear outcomes from overnight home- work, if any). • Use Clark Grid to ID immediate and high-val- ue initiatives and actions. Move from easier-to-do to harder-to-do which requires investment/permissions.

The strength of Mondi’s kraft paper means it can hold weights of up to 20 kg, making it suitable for fruit and vegetable bundles as well as multipacks of bottles and other consumer goods. Mondi’s kraft paper used for the paper band is made from renewable, responsibly sourced and certified materials. It is recyclable in existing pa- per recycling streams across Europe, even fulfilling Germany’s ratio of 95/5. In other news, Mondi Group has releases its latest Sustainable Development Report 2022. In the Sustainable Development Report 2022, Mondi shows the progress achieved against com- mitments – including: • 82 percent of revenue generated from reusable, recyclable or compostable products; • 17 percent reduction of absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions (against 2019); • 80 percent renewable fuels used in our mills; and • €8.9 million social investment.

Smurfit Kappa Delivers 40% Reduction In CO2 Emissions Smurfit Kappa, according to the company, remains on target to deliver on its long-term goal to have at least net zero emissions by 2050, according to its 16th annual Sustainable Development Report. The report highlights the company’s progress. Last year, Smurfit Kappa delivered several land- mark achievements highlighting its continued lead- ership in sustainability including: • Successfully trialling hydrogen in its Saillat pa- per mill in France; • Completion of a multi-fuel boiler in the Zülpich paper mill in Germany which reduced emissions at the mill by 25 percent; • The announcement of the Group’s largest decar-
Mark-Maker Installs XSYS Catena-W Washout Unit Mark-Maker Company, Grand Rapids, Michigan, me- dium-sized commercial platemaker and trade shop, is one of the first in the United States to install the Ther- moFlexX Catena-W washout unit from XSYS. Mark-Maker Company was formed in 1970 when Robert Stout, who was a graphic artist by trade, set up the business to provide hand-engraved and rub- ber printing plates to the printing industry. In 1979, Robert Pettijohn was brought in to help the small family business expand into steel rule cutting dies. He soon expanded the customer base, selling plates and dies to corrugated manufacturers. On the plate side, Mark-Maker began making liq- uid photopolymer plates for flexo printing in the 1980s, and in the early 1990s, it added sheet plates with the installation of one of the first large format systems in the country. This was also around the time Pettijohn took over running the company as President, and his son, Aaron, joined the business. When Robert retired in 2018 after, 40 years in the company (25 of which he was at the helm), the reins were passed to Aaron. Today, the family-owned Company operates three sites in the United Staes; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Glendale Heights, Illinois; and Neenah, Wisconsin. The ThermoFlexX Catena-W washout unit from XSYS reportedly has plate alignment technology that avoids plate skew during transport, while the advanced plate queuing limits the distance between plates to 20 inches.
