Big News!

After 70+ years serving West Texas families, we’ve got a fresh new look and name — introducing the Permian Basin Reability Center (PBRC)! Reability = rehabilitation + ability → our mission to restore ability, rebuild confidence, and redefine what’s possible. Different name, same hard work and dedication to our patients and community.

A MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

2025 was a year of growth and transformation! Five new therapists joined our team and we added new programs to better serve our community. All of this enabling the PBRC staff to provide 18,587 life changing therapy sessions to our patients. In addition, we transformed our fundraising events, beginning an entirely new format for Telethon and a new location for Steakout. By far, the biggest transformation we experienced was rebranding! PBRC endeavored to find a new brand that better reflected the heart of the Center and our mission. Our new brand was revealed at Steakout: The Great American Reveal! We shared our brand mantra, new name and logo with 1,000 of our friends, donors and supporters! While we have a new name, our heart and mission remain unchanged. The Permian Basin Reability Center will continue to help our patients recover, rebuild strength and restore ability by providing physical, occupational, speech therapy and audiology services with excellence. I am so proud of the commitment and compassion demonstrated by our staff. The impact they have on our patients and their families is immeasurable. I am grateful to our board, led by President Jason Hahn, for providing their unending support and expertise to ensure PBRC could continue fulfilling our mission. Thank you to every community member that gave, volunteered, supported and encouraged us! We could not have done it without you! To our patients and their families, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your story. You are the heart of the Center! As we look forward to what 2026 will bring, one thing will remain unchanged. The staff and board of The Permian Basin Reability Center will remain committed to focusing on our mission and our values- Restoring Hope, Reflecting Compassion and Reaching the Community.

PATIENT REPRESENTATIVES

5 SOPHIA

6 JAXSON Let us introduce you to Jaxson – our 2026 patient representative! Jaxson is an energetic and determined 7-year-old who fills every room with joy and motion. Born at just 22 weeks, his story is nothing short of a miracle – many children born that early never get a chance to walk, talk or play. But Jaxson continues to defy the norm and is making remarkable progress. He’s now walking, building agility and strength and finding his voice, speaking often and proudly!

The board and staff were delighted to work with Sophia as our 2025 patient representative this year, and we are so proud of all that she has accomplished! Sophia started her journey at PBRC in November 2022 at just 3 years old. Born 17 weeks early, Sophia spent several months in the NICU on oxygen and after several medical issues was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. At the start of her therapy, Sophia was unable to walk and had significant tightness to both legs, making her braces uncomfortable. Since beginning therapy, Sophia has progressed to walking long distances with her forearm crutches and even short distances without crutches! The tightness in her legs has decreased and she is wearing her leg braces all the time now, assisting with her stability. Receiving services in physical therapy and occupational therapy, Sophia is strengthening her skills and increasing her independence. But most importantly, through therapy here at PBRC, Sophia and her family are reimagining the possibilities for her future. All of Sophia’s accomplishments have been made because of the support the Reability Center receives from donors like you. From ALL of us here at PBRC – THANK YOU!

Tune in to our Annual Telethon March 23rd through 28th on NW9 to meet Jaxson and learn more about this amazing little man!

This year’s Telethon went fully digital, with supporters making pledges online or through a QR code during NewsWest9’s broadcast. Viewers also heard powerful patient stories showing the impact of their generosity. We’re grateful for our long ‑ time donors and thrilled to welcome many new supporters.

What a fantastic day at the Zachary Smith Memorial Golf Tournament! Great energy, friendly competition, and a meaningful tribute to Zachary. Congrats to Lone Star Corporation on taking first place. Huge thanks to everyone who joined us and made the event a success.

This year’s Great American Steakout transformed into the Great American Reveal, featuring a delicious steak dinner and appetizers alongside the exciting unveiling of our new name and brand. Congratulations to our steak and appetizer winners, as well as the lucky winners of our raffle prizes. The live auction was a highlight of the evening, made especially meaningful by patient artwork. The night was a perfect blend of great food, fresh air, celebration, and community.

CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL

Each year PBRC Hosts a Christmas Carnival at the MCM Fundome. Patients & families enjoy food, games, pictures with their favorite princess or superhero and a visit from Santa!
