EAGLES WHO HAVE SERVED.

Charlie Woods ’13, ’24 B.S. in Aeronautics M.S. in Project Management BRANCH: U.S. Air Force Charlie Woods found success in both the skies and the classroom. After serving in the U.S. Air Force for over a decade, Woods, a captain and MQ-9 reaper evaluator pilot, decided to further his education and career by pursuing an M.S. in Project Management. Having already earned a B.S. in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle in 2013, he knew the value of education in shaping his future. Today, Woods continues to serve as the wing executive officer for the 1st Special Operations Wing at Hurlburt Field, Florida, while balancing his graduate studies and family life. He’s committed to leveraging his education to transition successfully into the civilian sector after his military career ends, particularly in dynamic, team-driven environments. “Embry‑Riddle reshaped a future I didn’t know I had in front of me. I’m the first college graduate in my family and will soon hold the first graduate degree,” he said.

Kelcey Kocer ’17, ’21 A.S. in Aeronautics B.S. in Unmanned Systems Applications BRANCH: U.S. Navy

Kelcey Kocer joined the U.S. Navy at 17 as an aviation machinist’s mate. During her service, she earned her A.S. in Aeronautics in 2018, and then decided to switch directions and pursue the B.S. Unmanned Systems Applications. Since her father works with uncrewed systems, the program had always been in the back of her mind. After spending six years in the Navy and having children, she decided to end her enlistment to focus on her education. Kocer enjoys the freedom and flexibility that comes with taking online classes. By choosing her own pace with coursework, she can balance the other parts of her life as a student. “When it comes to being a full-time mother, student and worker, utilizing your support such as family, friends and co-workers can benefit a lot,” she said.
