As we prepare for this year’s sale, we feel blessed to have made it through the polar vortex with just a few frozen ears. It certainly tested our will and faith but thanks to help from Taylor and J.D., we survived. Mother Nature was uncooperative, and we were unable to get the bulls pictured this year. Although our numbers this year are still smaller, we’re excited about the crop on the ground. We put in around 75 embryos and will have a much larger selection next year. We continue to be aggressive in our ET program to capitalize on the very best genetics we have. Many of the bulls in this year’s sale are full brothers out of our very best cows. 2023 was hard on our donors and we lost two, but their daughters are stepping up to take their place in our ET program. We’ve continued to take a progressively balanced approach in our sire selection giving our customers options for adding value to their programs. That’s reflected in the bulls in this year’s sale. As a set, they’ve performed well and offer breed-leading EPD profiles to enhance multiple traits for an operation. Our continued partnership with Barrett Cattle in marketing bulls provides an opportunity to choose from different sire and age groups, backed by two cowherds which have placed continued selection pressure on udder quality and mothering ability, traits for which an EPD doesn’t yet exist. We appreciate the valued relationships and friends we’ve acquired over the years. Your business is of the upmost importance to us and isn’t something we take lightly. Pairing the genomic test with the submission of unbiased data for a multitude of traits provides our customers with the most reliable EPDs available. We firmly believe in the measurement and submission of production and phenotypic traits. A genomic-enhanced EPD is only sustainable if it’s coupled with the submission of actual data.
