JAMIE HECTOR is an actor, storyteller, and co-founder of Moving Mountains Inc., a nonprofit theater company that provides inner-city youth with training in the arts. He is known for his roles on The Wire , Bosch , and Queen of the South . Jamie’s parents were born in Haiti, and his earliest memories are of the stories his mother would tell him about her childhood. She passed on her love of storytelling to her son. Jamie graduated from CUNY and enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute. He is married and has two children, whom he loves to write about: They are the inspirations for the characters of Chloé and Sajès, who are featured in several books that he co-wrote with Alaine Roberson. Jamie Hector also seeks to share his pride in his own Haitian heritage and has worked with Scholastic as a mentor for Our Community: The Haitian Heritage Collection , book sets designed for the classroom and at-home use that include stories about Chloé and Sajès as well as books by other authors with ties to this vibrant culture and the Haitian Creole language.
