Stavick Simmentals - Annual "King of the Range" Simmental Bull Sale [2/5/26]

Stavick Simmental Core Beliefs

1. Integrity in the Details We won’t polish data or cattle. We record accurate weights and collect information as close to 205 days through yearling age as possible to fairly represent each animal. Our cattle are photographed as they are—clipped, but not washed or fitted, no enhancing. Our numbers, pictures, and prices are unedited. What you see is what you get. 2. Every Cow Must Pay Her Way A cow’s job is simple—and non-negotiable. She must raise a healthy, vigorous calf for 200 days, breed back within 60, and earn her keep by putting a heifer in the replacement pen or a bull in the sale. If she can’t do that, she doesn’t stay. No exceptions. 3. Problem-Free or Pass We manage cattle with what we call the “touch method.” If we have to step in—whether it’s foot rot, pinkeye, calving issues, or any other problem—the first touch is her warning. The second touch puts her on a short list, and it’s not a good one. Low- input cattle aren’t optional—they’re required. 4. Structure Still Matters EPDs are a useful tool, but they’ll never replace a trained eye. We evaluate every animal on its feet, legs, and overall build because structure determines longevity. We’ll take a lower-numbered animal with sound structure over a high-EPD one that can’t travel or hold up. 5. Proven Over Popular We don’t chase trends or sales headlines. We use our own bulls extensively because we believe the best way to stand behind a product is to run it ourselves. That means we may not have sons of the hottest AI sires—but we also won’t use our customers as guinea pigs for unproven matings. We’re tough critics, and our cattle feel it first. 6. Relentless Improvement We believe there’s always room to get better. From facilities and bull development to AI protocols and picture pens, our program evolves every year. The pursuit of perfection may be impossible—but that won’t stop us from chasing it. 7. Family Owned. Family Operated. If it can be done by our family, we do it ourselves. Mike breeds the cows. Owen clips the bulls. Liv takes the pictures. Myra feeds the sale-day guests. You can’t outsource pride of ownership. These core beliefs are the foundation of our program. Maternal, problem-free cows create exceptional sons. Sound, structurally correct cattle last and bulls that stay, pay. By chasing improvement at home rather than bling in the sale ring, we’re able to build cattle we believe in and continue the family-run operation we call Stavick Simmental.
