Kinn Simmental Program Kinn Simmental is a first-generation Simmental seedstock business that grew up around all types of livestock learning how to select and care for efficient genetics that work in our environment. We are located in central McLean County, ND. We run our operation with a true passion in creating genetics that are cost effective and profitable. We strive to make the best Simmental cow in the industry and yet we are continu- ously trying to make her better. Today’s Ranching industry consists of a variety of types of operations. This model is continuously adjusting and requires very dedicated individuals to make it work. Many cattle op- erations are a very busy, family orientated team with every- one contributing in many ways to make the dream work. We can definitely relate to this situation ourselves. Our operation is a family driven platform that consists of the Tyler and Davis Kinn families. This is something that we are very proud of in that if you have any questions about our genetics, all our knowledge is via firsthand experience in all the day-to-day work. We are very proud of our herd in being a very efficient, mini - mum problem herd. Like all of you know, time is the one thing we cannot buy, and we all must make the hours we get count. We have our wives and kids with us, calving out these genetics and we do not have time for cattle that cause problems. We feel as though many ranches have very similar situations today and nobody wants to deal with inefficient livestock that requires unnecessary feed and labor inputs due to their genetic makeup. We want cows that calve unassisted, mother up quickly, and carry a good temperament so that we can handle them without problems. We always look at implementing genetics that will improve the final product in our program. We aim to equip you with the tools needed for accurate selection. We believe that parentage DNA testing our entire herd and submitting DNA samples to improve epd accuracy is a requirement for our customer’s success. We are driven to report accurate data so that we can provide the most hon- est and consistent genetic package to the industry.
Our bulls are developed at Tyler’s farm 12 miles west of Turtle Lake. We weaned the bulls on September 21st off the pas- ture where they made a living on grass and milk. We do not creep feed the bulls over the summer. Post weaning, they are being fed a midds based high fiber complete pellet with added corn, fortified with a Platinum trace mineral package and free choice of high-quality hay. We are shooting for a 3.5lb/day gain. These bulls are being developed in a way to keep our customers successful. We want these bulls to carry longevity and structural correctness. The ration being fed is one that shows genetic differences between them while maintaining hoof integrity and longevity. We do not grind any twine or net wrap in any of the hay we feed on our place. We believe that this problem will eventually show up in an an- imal’s life and none of us can afford that problem. We raise and develop them in a way that we would want our own future herd sires taken care of. We want them to have the best opportunity possible to succeed for all of you. We have strived to always select cattle that are at the top level of value within the Simmental breed. We have a true love for the livestock industry, and we would like to person- ally thank all of you for taking the time to evaluate this sale offering.
