RESPONDING TO ABUSER Camper-to-Camper Abuse/Inappropriate Touch If a Camper alleges being abused or having inappropriate contact with another Camper, the staff member receiving that allegation should notify the Camp Director immediately. While the complaint is being investigated, staff will insure that the Campers involved are separated and have no contact with each other. The Camp Director or Program Director will meet privately with each of the Campers involved (both the alleged victim and perpetrator) along with a staff member trusted by that Camper to review the allegations and facts in an attempt to discover whether inappropriate contact took place.

If, after investigation of the allegations, the director and staff involved suspect that inappropriate contact has taken place,

1. The Camper judged to have committed the offense will be immediately isolated from other Campers. 2. His or her parents or guardian will be called and informed of the incident. 3. The Camper will be sent home. 4. A staff member will accompany the Camper to the cabin to pack his or her belongings. 5. The nature of their dismissal from Camp shall remain confidential. • Parents or guardians of the alleged victim will be notified of the incident and the Camp response. Their advice will be sought as to whether they would like to visit or pick up their child. • The Risk Management officer (Rick Braschler) will be called by the Camp Director and notified of the incident. • A thorough account of the event will be written by the Camp Director and remain on file in the black box for that Camp term. • If, after investigation of the allegations, the director and staff involved suspect that the inappropriate contact did not take place:
