Cougars split weekend games At home Saturday night, in their own den at the Vankleek Hill Arena, the Cougars won by a whisker 6-5 against the St-Isidore Eagles with Tyler Dopelhamer slamming in two goals and helping out on a third during the ice action that night.

The Vankleek Hill Cougars trimmed the wings of the St-Isidore Aigles during the latest weekend round of games in the National Capital Junior Hockey League. Then the Papineauville Vikings raided the Vankleek Hill net when the Cougars crossed the Ottawa River for their Sunday scheduled match.

Solo shots went into the St-Isidore net from Nicolas Castonguay, Charles Doyon, Tyler Druce, and Maxime Emond. Also assisting on the goals were Druce, Emond, Nikolas Ayotte, Vincent Huneault, and Riley

Sauvé. Anthony Vassall guarded the Cougars’ net all night against the Eagles’ attacks. Jacob Bélanger accounted for two of the Aigles’ goals Saturday night and also assisted on a third. Notching solo points for St-Isidore were Mathieu Galipeau, Eric Lafleur, and Nicholas Souligny. Other scoring assists came from Lafleur, Maxime Choquette, Frederik Laflèche, Jean-Sébastien Lavigne, Tyler Seguin, and Vincent St-Onge. Miguel Laroche stood guard in the St-Isidore net. Sunday, the Cougars went across the river to Papineauville to face the Vikings on their home ice in the Joseph-LucienMalo Arena. The Vikings hammered their visitors 6-1 with Charles Doyon scoring a lone unassisted

goal for the Cougars. Dominik Turcotte and BrennanNadeau shared goalkeeping duties for Vankleek Hill. Jérémie Trudeau fired in a pair of goals for Papineauville. Scoring solo points were fellow Vikings Mathieu Des Ruisseaux, Owen Frénette, Hugo Lusignan, and Maxime Tremblay. Assisting on the scoring were Des Ruisseaux, Tremblay, Anthony Laprade, Pascale Leblanc, Maxime Lizotte, andMaxime Roussel. Marc-Olivier Bastien handled all of the netminding duty for Papineauville. Next game for the Cougars is Nov. 26 against the North Dundas Rockets at the Chesterville & District Arena.

Deux équipes du Hawkesbury Golf and Curling Club ont gagné les première et troisième places de leur division au tournoi U15 de Carleton Place, qui se tenait le samedi 19 novembre 2016.
