LOUISIANA’S INCUMBENT WORKER TRAINING PROGRAM For over 25 years, the Louisiana Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWTP) has been a collaborative initiative by the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC), local businesses, and training providers, aimed at enhancing employee skills, and boosting productivity, creating job opportunities, retaining at-risk jobs, and increasing wages for skilled workers. The IWTP Grant Process with LSU Online Getting started with an IWTP Customized Training application is as easy as scheduling a meeting with our team. During the meeting we will assess potential alignment and collaborate on developing a training matrix. Grants are reviewed monthly, provided that applications and supporting documents are submitted by mid-month of the prior month.
“My commitment to lifelong learning and skills development motivated me to sign up for several courses with LSU Continuing Education (LSU CE), especially after joining the Turner Industries team, where I had the opportunity to participate as part of Turner’s partnership with LSU CE on the IWTP grant. Every course has been led by subject matter experts who bring multiple real-world examples into the classroom, helping us understand how to apply what we learn directly in our work environments. This practical approach has been incredibly valuable for translating classroom content into workplace results. The skills I gained have been immediately applicable in my role. For example, the workplace investigations course provided checklists that we could integrate into our existing processes right away. Similarly, agile project management for business equipped our team to adjust our project management approach to better meet stakeholder needs and expedite progress. Since completing these courses, I’ve seen direct benefits to my career: I have contributed to expanding the areas I manage within the company. LSU CE has been instrumental in helping me grow professionally and demonstrate my capabilities in new areas of responsibility.”
