Fine Art Collector | Autumn 2018

Known for his powerful sculptures, Lorenzo has captivated critics across the globe. His large-scale exhibitions include Support: a 30ft installation that emerged from the historic Ca’ Sagredo Hotel in Italy as part of Venice Biennale 2017 and made the list of the year’s most popular Instagram images. Our events were a chance for our collectors to meet the artist, who prides himself on sculpting the most technically challenging part of the human body: hands. For him, the body part symbolises the power we have to impact both our lives and those of people around us. He explains: “The hand holds so much power: the power to love, create, hate and destroy.” By the end, guests were clued up on Lorenzo’s techniques and the ideas behind his work. Assistant gallery manager of our Birmingham ICC gallery, Karen Johnson, says: “It was fantastic to have an artist of Lorenzo’s calibre at our gallery. We’re glad so many of our collectors could meet one of the most exciting contemporary artists of today.”
