AESTHETIC ART (ANDREW KINSMAN)
The 19th century aesthetic movement celebrated the visual and sensual qualities of art, championing pure beauty and ‘art for art’s sake’. It emerged in Europe from the philosophy that while beauty may have some rational properties – including order, symmetry and proportion – it can only be understood and experienced through human feeling and emotion. Primary sources of inspiration included Pre-Raphaelite paintings, medieval geometric designs and Japanese motifs. We love Andrew Kinsman’s romantic pieces.
