PPSA Seeking Nominations For Safety Performance Awards

The PPSA is seeking nominations for outstanding safety teams to receive the Safety Committee/Team Award. This award honors a pulp and paper industry safety committee/ team that has made a significant contribution to safety and health at their location, company, or within the industry. In order to receive this award, a facility must apply for it, be selected as a finalist and present their innovation in a spir- ited completion at the annual conference. Presenters will showcase their accomplishments to peers and colleagues at the annual conference. Additionally, applications are also being accepted for the following team accomplishments: • Executive Eagle Award Nominations: This prestigious award is given each year to honor a pulp and paper industry executive that has made a significant contri- bution to the safety and health programs within their area or areas of direct responsibility and has a demon- strable record of support for the Pulp & Paper Safety Association. To nominate an Executive for this award, review the nomination procedure, complete the form and submit it along with accompanying information via email or regular mail. • Award of Excellence: This is the most prestigious award given for operating excellence. Three of these awards are presented annually. The 2022-2023 award looks holistically at each nominees’ safety program, record, and continued efforts to promote safety cul- ture. To nominate a location for this award, review the nomination procedure, complete the form and submit it along with accompanying information via email or reg- ular mail. • Safety Innovator Award: This will go to one facility an- nually demonstrating the most innovative safety im- provement product/process implemented during a designated date range prior to the annual conference. In order to receive this award, a facility must apply for it, be selected as a finalist and lastly present their innova- tion in a spirited competition at the annual conference. Conference attendees vote via secret ballot to deter- mine the annual winner. • Safety Leader of the Year Award: The PPSA would like to recognize outstanding achievement within the safe- ty profession with the Safety Leader of the Year (SLY) Award. The SLY Award recognizes a single forest prod- ucts industry leader who has demonstrated unique, engaging and effective approaches to the safety pro- grams within their company. In doing so, this individual has had a profound and positive impact on safety with- in the forest products industry. Submit applications by March 31.
