Edison Township Public Schools Summer Academic Programs 2025 GRADES 6 - 12 The Edison Summer Academic Programs provide an opportunity for students Grades 6-12 to strengthen academic skills, prepare for the year ahead, and enjoy new learning experiences.

Middle School Programs

1. Writing Enrichment Boot Camp

Target Audience: Incoming 7th and 8th Graders Session Dates: July 7 - July 18 OR July 21 - August 1 Class Times : 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM OR 10:30AM - 12:00PM Location: Remote. Personal device required with Google Meet access. Target Audience: Current 5th grade students enrolled in Math 6 in the Fall. Session Dates: July 7th - July 18th, July 21st - August 1st, August 4th - August 15th Class Times : 8:30AM - 10:20AM, 10:30AM - 12:20PM, 4:00PM - 5:50PM Location: Remote Cost: $75.00 Registration Link Students will review key 5th grade standards needed to be successful in Math 6 the following school year. Students will also gain a preview into Math 6 and how the 5th grade standards are applied.

Target Audience: Current 5th grade students enrolled in Pre-Algebra 6 in the Fall. Session Dates: July 7th - August 1st Class Times : 8:30AM - 10:20AM, 10:30AM - 12:20PM, 4:00PM - 5:50PM, 6:00PM -7:50PM Location: Remote Cost: $150.00 Registration links will be emailed to eligible students.

Students will review key 6th grade standards needed to be successful in Pre-Algebra 6 next school year.

4. Pre-Algebra 7 Preview

Target Audience: Current 6th grade students enrolled in Pre-Algebra 7 in the Fall. Session Dates: July 7th - July 18th, July 21st - August 1st, OR August 4th - August 15th Class Times : 8:30AM - 10:20AM, 10:30AM - 12:20PM, 4:00PM - 5:50PM Location: Remote Cost: $75.00 Registration Link Students will review major Pre-Algebra concepts to help them gain confidence and competence before entering the course in September. Target Audience: Current 7th grade students enrolled in Algebra 1-8 in the Fall. Session Dates: July 7th - July 18th, July 21st - August 1st, OR August 4th - August 15th Class Times : 8:30AM - 10:20AM, 10:30AM - 12:20PM, 5:00PM - 6:50PM Location: Remote Cost: $75.00 Registration Link Students will review major Pre-Algebra concepts and connect them to Algebra 1 content. Target Audience: Current Algebra 1-7 students enrolled in Geometry 8 in the Fall. Target Audience: Current 6th and 7th graders Session Dates: July 7 - August 1 Class Times: 8:30am - 12:30pm Location: Herbert Hoover Middle School Cost: no cost

Students will develop leadership skills through collaboration, creation, critical-thinking activities and community building sessions.

8. GoIT!

Target Audience: Current middle school students (available current 5-8th graders) Session Dates: June 30 - July 11 OR July 14 - 25 Class Times: 8:30am - 10:30pm OR 11:00AM - 1:00PM (4 total sessions available) Location: Edison High School and JP Stevens Cost: no cost Registration Link (also has more info on class options) goIT is a TCS program that increases interest in STEM and Computer Science through Design Thinking, mobile app development and mentorship. Students can choose App Design, AI, or Generative AI options.

9. STEM SUMMER Creative Workshop

Target Audience: Students in grades 6-8 for Fall 2024

Session Dates: July 7th-July 18th

Class Times : 8:30AM - 10:20AM OR 10:30AM - 12:20PM

Location: Herbert Hoover Middle School

Cost: $25.00

Registration Link: Session 1 8:30AM - 10:20AM Session 2 10:30AM - 12:20PM Students will use LEGO kits to collaborate and create using STEM concepts, problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills. Students will combine colorful LEGO building elements, easy-to-use hardware, and an intuitive drag-and-drop coding language to complete projects and engage in creative design.

13. ESports Summer Camp

Target Audience : Middle school students interested in learning about the ESports industry and honing their competitive skills! Session Dates: 7/7-7/31 LINK In Person at EHS-ESports Arena Located in the Library Class Times : 10:30AM-12:30PM Location: Edison High School E-Sports Arena Cost: $25

14. Think Like a Scientist

Target Audience : Incoming 6th grade students interested in unleashing their inner scientist. Students will dive into exciting challenges, using real-world science problem-solving skills to actively investigate, experiment, and create solutions. Through hands-on activities and critical thinking exercises, students will learn to approach problems like true scientists — with

6. Pre-Calculus (Invite Only) - Registration from 5/14-5/22 Target Audience: Pre-Approved Grade 11 Algebra 2 students Session Dates: 6/30-7/30 Class Times : 8:00AM -2:30PM

Location: Remote - Personal device required with Google Meet access Cost: $650 Registration information will be emailed to the pre-approved students. *Students will complete a 120-hour Pre-Calculus course for acceleration.

7. Geometry Refresh (Invite Only)

Target Audience: Pre-Approved Grade 8 Geometry students Session Dates: 7/7-7/18 Class Times : 8:00AM -2:00PM Location: Remote - Personal device required with Google Meet access Cost: Free Registration information will be emailed to the pre-approved students. *Students will complete a 60-hour Geometry course to reinforce skills.

8. Python Boot Camp

Target Audience: Students interested in getting a jump start to Python programming. This is for students with no knowledge of programming. This course is not graded and is in a workshop format. Session Dates: 8/4-8/8 Class Times : 9:00AM-12:00PM M-F Location: Remote - MUST have access to a computer or laptop to participate Cost: $15 Registration Link: Bootcamp: Python

9. Python Summer Course

Target Audience: Students interested in starting the computer science sequence. Session Dates: 6/26/25-7/25/25 Class Times : 8:00AM-1:00PM M-F Location: Remote - MUST have access to a computer or laptop to participate *7/25 is IN AN IN PERSON EXAM SESSION Cost: $25 Registration Link: Functional Python Programming Target Audience: Incoming Grade 9 students CAN NOT REGISTER FOR THIS COURSE IF ATTENDANCE IS OUT OF THE COUNTRY Session Dates: 7/7 - 7/18 Class Times : 8:30AM - 10:30AM or 11:00AM - 1:00PM Location: Remote - Personal device required with Google Meet access Registration Link: Students will enhance their study skills, including organization, note-taking, reading complex texts, and study strategies, to prepare them for the demanding nature of high school and to cultivate their independence as learners . 10. High School Readiness

Target Audience: Incoming Grade 9 students and any current high school student CAN NOT REGISTER FOR THIS COURSE IF ATTENDANCE IS OUT OF THE COUNTRY Session Dates: Session 1: 7/7 - 7/18 Session 2: 7/21-8/1 Class Times : A. 8:30AM-10:30AM or B. 11:00AM-1:00PM Location: Remote - Personal device required with Google Meet access. A link will be shared three days prior to the first day of class.

Writers will have the opportunity to outline, draft, enhance language, and ultimately refine their writing skills in a fun, welcoming environment. As students engage in different styles of writing they will learn how to approach outlining as well as editing so that they can learn to improve their own writing once the program is complete.

12. Bio Bootcamp

Target Audience: Incoming Grade 9 students Session Dates: Session 1A: 7/7 - 7/18

Get a step ahead! These sessions will cover crucial middle school life science concepts that serve as a foundation for high school biology. With a focus on key topics, the instruction aims to equip incoming freshmen with the necessary skills to excel in the demanding freshman biology course.

13. SAT Preparation - MATH & ENGLISH - Registration from 5/13-6/7 Target Audience: Grade 9 - Grade 12 students Session Dates: 7/7 - 7/31 Class Times : 8:30AM-12:30PM Location: Remote - Personal device required with Google Meet access Cost: $200 Registration Link: SAT Preparation - Math & English

*Students will practice SAT style questions, review test-taking strategies and take practice tests. Once the course reaches its maximum capacity it will be closed.

14. Introduction to AP History (Invite Only)

Target Audience: Incoming Grade 9 students enrolled in US History 1-Honors Session Dates: 7/28/25 - 8/1/25 Class Times : Session 1: 8:00am - 11:00am Session 2: 11:00am - 2:00pm Location: Remote - Personal device required with Google Meet access Cost: $75 Registration Link: Will be emailed to eligible students

Description: Students will be introduced to expectations of AP History courses, with a focus on note-taking and writing. 15. OTHER 20. ESL Summer Program

Open to Multilingual Learners (MLs/ELLs) currently enrolled in Gr. K-11, who will receive instruction to support the development of academic skills in English as a Second Language. Program will operate daily 9am-12pm from July 7th - 31st at Woodrow Wilson Middle School. Registration form will be provided to eligible families from their child’s ESL Teacher.
