Tama Isaac Tama Isaac has been named in the Junior Tall Blacks squad for the FIBA U18 Asia Cup in Amman, Jordan in 2024. Selected for the U17 New Zealand Junior Tall Blacks in 2023, Tama Isaac was also named in the FIBA U17 Oceania Championship All- Star Five following his outstanding performances at the tournament in Papua New Guinea.

A standout trio of College basketball players have been selected to play for New Zealand at international U18, U17, and U15 competitions.

in Turkey, Ihaka has become a renowned guard/forward for Canterbury and New Zealand. An integral member of the national team, Ihaka has achieved his best result in July this year, with New Zealand finishing 4th at the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2024 in Istanbul. It is the greatest achievement by a Kiwi age-group team in World Cup history At the U16 Asia Championship in 2023, Ihaka made the most of his minutes on the court, averaging 4.5 points per game and pulling down 4.3 rebounds. In Year 12, Ihaka has been signed to play for the Canterbury Rams. At 1.98m, Ihaka is recognised for his strong work around the basket and impressive perimeter game. Tawhiri Cate Year 11 student Tawhiri Cate has been named in the New Zealand team to contest the FIBA U15 Men’s Oceania Cup in Australia in November. The top two countries from the competition will progress to the FIBA U16 Men’s Asia Cup in 2025, with the four highest-ranked teams earning a place at the FIBA U17 Men’s World Cup in 2026. As a member of the U15 Canterbury team in 2023, Tawhiri won the national title and was named in the tournament team, along with being appointed captain. He again was named captain in 2024.

rebounds, and 4.6 assists, Tama was recognised for his leadership and on-court control, with the star basketball guard playing a pivotal role in New Zealand’s silver medal achievement. Tama also was named in the All Star team at the NBA Basketball Without Borders camp in Abu Dhabi, highlighting his ability on an international court. This year, he has been named tournament MVP at the U20 national championship while helping to shoot Canterbury to victory. Tama also has been a member of the Canterbury Rams, winner of the New Zealand NBL title in 2023 and 2024.
