DOWNTOWN RENTALIZATION Downtown Texarkana’s beautiful old buildings have long stood as a testament to our rich history. Up until the middle of the last century, this area was moving and shaking with commerce. Recently there has been a renewed focus on the historical importance and the beauty of these structures, and a concerted effort to bring them back to their former glory. Projects such as the Hotel Grim redevelopment provide insight into the goals of the revitalization efforts. This undertaking is transforming a hotel originally built in 1925 and redeveloping it into commercial space and residential apartments, while maintaining its historical personality. Exciting improvements are happening throughout the downtown area. As the buildings and facades are restored, so is the activity and energy, bringing back business and boosting the economy. Historic Downtown is creating a bright future for Texarkana with restaurants, nightlife and entertainment, and with those developments the demand for convenient residential proximity grows. One development brings another, and the possibilities are endless.
