Texarkana Independent School District (TISD) uses innovative and varied educational opportunities to create a vibrant 21st-century learning community. Since 1889, Texarkana’s premiere school district has produced students who are future-ready citizens and leaders in the global workforce. TISD’s culturally diverse campuses immerse students in innovative and engaging educational experiences. From pre-k to high school, TISD students have access to a rigorous curriculum with creative, hands-on, and interactive learning opportunities. High-quality, dedicated teachers provide students with educational and emotional support. Several TISD teachers are National Board Certified, and many hold post-graduate degrees. TISD strives to provide its students with safe, state-of-the-art educational facilities. In November 2022, TISD passed a $189 million bond to replace several aging facilities and enhance TISD’s already strong career and technology programs. TISD also offers the most dual credit courses of any district in Texarkana, and the PreK-12 STEM initiative encompasses over 2,300 TISD students. TISD provides strong school and community partnerships that anticipate and nourish student needs in all aspects of learning. The district has developed these partnerships with parents and stakeholders to ensure TISD’s success continues throughout the next generation of TISD learners.
Texarkana Arkansas School District (TASD) has been providing quality education for the city of Texarkana, Arkansas since 1884. Their committed staff of educators hold high student expectations and provide a challenging curriculum to push them toward success. TASD believes community and family engagement in the educational process is one key to their classroom success. It takes a village and the TASD village is rich in talent and strength, all working together to enhance the lives of their students. The mission of TASD is to empower all students to realize their full potential, and to be a school district where educators inspire, leaders are developed and every goal is achieved. In the effort to realize those goals, the brand-new Arkansas Middle School opened in 2021. The new school houses sixth, seventh and eighth- grade students and is the first new campus built in the district in decades. The $25 million dollar project began in 2017. The new middle school is 125,000 square feet and sits on 31 acres. It houses 1,000 students and is equipped with state-of-the-art science and computer labs, two band halls, two gymnasiums, and much more.
