MATERIALS Kingsley Bate uses only the finest materials to craft its furniture. Whether wood, all-weather wicker, or stainless steel, we ensure all materials meet strict quality standards and are durable for outdoor use. WOOD Leisure furniture crafted from teak wood is the finest available. All timber is plantation-grown, sustainably harvested, and suitable for diverse climates, including salt-air environments. Wood is kiln-dried before manufacturing to prevent shrinkage, ensuring precision-cut mortise and tenon joints remain tight after years of use. Some variation in wood color and grain is to be expected. See page 192 for information on teak weathering. Grade A Teak Grade A, First European Quality (FEQ) teak is harvested from the center of the log. This premium cut is knot-free with rich golden color and beautiful grain. We do not apply stain or oil to our Grade A teak. Instead, we sand each surface to a luxuriously smooth consistency to allow the natural beauty of the wood to shine through. Distressed Teak Distressed teak showcases organic irregularities found in the natural timber. Features like knots, checking, and distinct graining give each piece its own unique character. Distressed teak items are offered in a multilayered painted finish or natural, unpainted wood finishes.
